Palmer needs to break that off sooner.

Problem was he was looking for Bech and Palmer was his 3rd read. That’s why it took so long. He made up his mind before the play he was going to Bech. Everybody knew it including Bama.

Bech is the #2 WR on the left side of the screen…

#80 Bech is clearly on the field. Max has a lot of work to do in the off season if he’s gonna be the QB next season.

I haven't watched the replay of it yet, but it appeared to me that Palmer was not the primary option on the play but Johnson came off the primary and tried to hit him. The throw was basically high because Johnson did not set his feet and was drifting backwards, a habit that he has developed over the season due to constantly being pounded by pass rush. You can blame him all you want for the loss but a poor oline and terrible coaching and play call have brought it to this point.

It was a designed look-off. The primary read is Palmer, then the receivers to his left.

The OL gave him time all night

At some point you have to stop blaming the OL. They played pretty well last night. There were multiple times a pocket was there and Max didn’t step up. He often doesn’t step up into the pocket or into the throw. When you don’t step into the throw, the ball sails, like it did on critical plays last night. Also, if you hold the ball too long, then it can look like the OL is terrible. I can think of at least 2-3 times last night where he stepped right into the rush.

Anyway, he seems like a good kid, and I think he is playing hard. But, others have already explained it better than I can, he is clearly struggling.

Max is good with the easy throws. shite, he’ll hit 6 out of 10 of the easy ones.

Was just able to stomach a replay of the last 6min… Max’s worst throw by far was the 4th down to Bech.

The INT and miss to Palmer at least involved good plays by the coverage; Max had Bech open for a relatively easy throw and jumped backwards because there were guys around his feet.

Kick the damned field goals. Three opportunities, but Ed has never coached with an end game strategy. To do the same requires an IQ above 105.

If we go the kicking route there’s no way we get a 3rd possession; best case scenario is OT.

We play for overtime and we would win in OT

The bottom line is on both 4th downs the playcalls, blocking, and routes were executed well enough to convert and the quarterback made bad throws.

In the second photo, the ball should have been on the way to take advantage of the separation. It was very evident in this game, more than any, that his indecision and wanting WR’s wide open hurt the execution of plays.

He should've made a better pass, but a lot of it has to do with our shite O-Line all year. He's got happy feet and I don't think he feels comfortable, ever

He has also made the O-lines job harder with his complete lack of pocket feel. He often doesn't let the pocket develop and, in an unnecessary panic, slides under the the right tackle, the one spot where the tackle can do nothing to protect him.

Max should be throwing the ball right here. Palmer has leverage inside and is about to dart right in front of Max's vision:

Exactly. Burrow put the ball where the receiver would be. Max waits till he sees the break and its too late then.
