I know it's been beaten to death already but damn this is just bad

Max should be throwing the ball right here. Palmer has leverage inside and is about to dart right in front of Max's vision:

Max waits to throw until Palmer is here:

And when he does throw it, he guns it right at the Alabama defender. The ball is circled. Red line is where the ball went. Green line is where it should've gone and would've been an easy TD (if it wasn't so high):

Palmer jumps for it over the defender in a valiant effort:

It's a levels concept too. Any one of the receivers darting right would've been open probably.

The Safety totally blew his mind. You could see his reaction.

He should've made a better pass, but a lot of it has to do with our shite O-Line all year. He's got happy feet and I don't think he feels comfortable, ever. Can't really blame him, he gets hit a ton. He could do better of course, but you can see how this happened. Not everyone can be Burrow. Doesn't excuse his shitty performance, but we all saw since the start of the sesason

Just curious what was the alignment at snap for the guy covering Palmer?

The moment I see the cover guy on Palmer with outside leverage on him that would’ve been my primary read.

People have harped on how few INTs he’s thrown, but I’ve point out multiple times that is a symptom of his struggles. He’s not very accurate, so he waits until guys are wide open. It cuts down on turnovers, but it’s why he’s simply not very good.

Not sure on the alignment. But it wasn’t his primary read. He was looking farther left towards bech or the other wr cutting in. Looked late to see Palmer getting open.

He has been extremely lucky too. Even in this game he hit defenders on the hands and they dropped it. Like it was too easy.

I’ve been a Max supporter, but his pocket awareness has evaporated. Reminds me of Myles in the Moo State game last year. After that game, Myles began throwing timing routes downfield and taking hits. Max watches and watches, doesn’t move up in the pocket, and then runs for his life.

Zero feel.

At the point he threw it, it should have went underneath. Anything thrown to Palmer should have been earlier…once he decided he didn’t like the read, he should have went underneath

Know what else helps that? Get the ball out on time.

This makes me sick. He had 2 tds that he missed this game. The one in the red zone you just broke down and one in the 1st half with Jenkins breaking free in the middle of the field (where max instead throws into double coverage

You can only blame the line so much. He had time on the 3 biggest throws of the game and missed all of them.

In the picture sequence, Palmer should have had the ball in pic 2. Max hadn't even released it.

Not disagreeing with you, particularly the early analysis. But once he didn't throw it early, throwing it exactly where he wants it is difficult due to the pressure (see your 2nd and 3rd pics) and he's getting hit as he releases it.

If he throws it on time, its before the pressure. And thats one of his biggest issues (and throwing while jumping backward). He doesn't have as much trust or comfortability in this offense as he had last year. I think the OL issues have been a big part of it.

Also, outside left WR would have been open in pic 2 for a TD throw I would expect our QB to be able to make.

We didn’t need Burrow to win last night. Etling woulda won that game. Max gets happy feet and holds onto the ball way too long. It’s frustrating to watch. He really has regressed. Disappointing season all around.

Yep…not real often u get a chance to beat bama that easily…we had the ball numerous times needing the one score when they couldn’t score….qb problem and rollouts to the right as a lefty problem
