Atleast 4 different times he had the easy run for a first down and he just sits there

He's holding the ball and pumping when he should be throwing, so he ends up off his back foot and the pass goes wild

And his backpedaling throughout the game is indicative of a scared quarterback with no poise.

When you have no offensive line to speak of, it's not really surprising is it?

That play should have seen him sitting on the bench for the rest of the season though. That said, the problem isn't just him. It's the whole damn team and that's on the coaches. All of them.

JJ's throw wasn't a bad decision. if the rb hadn't turned away from JJ it would have been a completed pass instead of an int.

Dont bring logic into a discussion.

Looked exactly like J. Lee

Kid doesn't have it, he can't read a defense, he's not his dad

Another similarity with Lee.
We had no defense when Lee was forced to start.
Lee was forced to carry the team before he was ready.

even without that play. we weren’t winning the game.

i don’t get knocking an 18 year old who got rocked 15 times last night, playing on the road in a wild environment, with a garbage Oline, and it being his 3rd official start.

Oh I Know

I was just saying I can’t ever remember seeing anything like that. If it was 4th down, I could understand but to do that just to avoid a sack was crazy to me

I like max but he should’ve been benched for that shite. Did O even jump his arse?
And then what?

Thank God we have walker howard coming next year. Idgaf if hes a true freshman or not...start his arse from day one and roll with it. Take our lumps if we have tk for the first year and get it over with bc max johnson isnt going to be much better than he is now no matter how long he has or who his coach or father is.

Agree.. it’s always the next guy on the bench..there wasn’t a QB on the LSU team that could have done any better last night under the pressure Johnson was getting from a weak soft non physical offensive line..there’s no fight in the whole LSU team..we don’t have the Fournettes, Guices, Helaires, adams, Jones, Delpits, Queens anymore..putting in a soak and wet 5’9” 172# QB with no college game experience would have been a disaster not only for the team but for him also..I understand some want a change but don’t just feed him to the wolves when your 6’5” 220# QB is getting his arse handed to him and running for his life all night..this ain’t high school ball you’re talking about..

FWIW, I think the outcome of the game would have been different if we had run it there on 3rd and 2

That sequence where we had 3rd and 2, down 7 pts, and settled for the FG… and then subsequently on UCLA’a next drive gave up 3rd and 14 and then a TD to put them back up 11 is where the game was lost

Finley would have set a Jarrett Lee record for INTs with as much pressure as Max was getting last night.
if you think Max had as much pressure last night compared to games Finley had, you're crazy. Finley may have had a couple turnovers, but I bet your arse that they would have called several dowfield shots with all the speed we have on the field at WR.

Really want to see what Nuss looks like in the rent a wins.

3rd start and first real road test with a crowd present. He didn't play well, but I don't know many QBs that could have made a positive out of that situation. O Line was terrible, 1st time OC calling plays, and 0 resemblance of a run game. Not to mention dropped passes. It seemed he never had a check down and most routes took forever to develop. Bad all around

So, you would have called the plays they (UCLA) wanted you to call.

Bro, they were obviously playing over the top... which is why they had all those guys open at 5-7 yards down the field.

It wasn't dumb considering the alternatives

I agree with you on that, it would have been a 15 yard loss if he didn’t get rid of the ball & the D-Linemen damn near beat the ball to Max. They were all over him as soon as LSU snapped it on that play. That said he’s damn lucky it wasn’t a Pick-6.

However you gotta give Max a break on some of his shite plays last night bc the GD O-Line was & is complete garbage. They couldn’t Run or Pass block AT ALL & I’m pretty sure UCLAs D-Line won’t be one of the better ones that we face this season. We’re likely to face 6-7 (or more) D-Lines better than UCLAs.
