If it happens it’ll be after Next year at earliest . I’m not as optimistic as I once was . Offensively we are terrible and the game is all about that now. Must get a few difference makers and create something around them. We’ll see.

Nothing changes if Nothing changes it is time to make a change, and get LSU MBB back up where it belongs!

I was watching back LSU basketball videos from last season, and I have to roundly disagree with anyone who says LSU is improved this year. They're not-- in fact this year's team has much more in common with the rag-tag group from two years ago than last year's team, who were competitive in conference play.

He went 9-9 last year in conference play last season. 7th in the conference and a long way from 2-14 and last place the previous season.
No matter what you say that was encouraging.
We started off bad this year, but let it play out before you condemn the man.

That's all fair. The jury is still out for me, but I want CMM to succeed.
Let's do this. Everyone right now is queer for Bruce Pearl. So let's compare - He took over a situation just as bad as CMM did and if you don't agree you didn't do your research - and with fan apathy for hoops worse than what CMM inherited. They just flat out did not GAF about basketball at Auburn.
He went won 9 SEC games his first two years at Auburn. He won 7 SEC games his third year that were forfeited for cheating which back before NIL was as customary for Auburn in every sport as breathing....so hiring Pearl was not a surprise.
CMM is in his third year, and his first two were better than Pearl's.
Now CMM does not have the larger than life personality and charisma of Pearl, so matching Pearl from his third year to where he is now seems a tall order, but NIL brings a new landscape and he's actually recruited surprisingly well, but eventually we will need results.
And he won't get 7 years like Dale did - landscape is much different now, and it looks unlikely this year will be his breakout - so I do think next year will be very important for him.

Talent matters. If you want to blame that on him, that's fine (I don't know what LSU is doing in the NIL game in men's basketball). The dude can bench coach with the best of them, but the fact is they are at the bottom of talent in the SEC.....and losing Reed was HUGE. If you could combine Wade's ability to get talent, with McMan ability with X's and O's.....we would be very good. It was a tough loss, but we have no idea about Vandy yet. I do know that there are about 5 or 6 teams that LSU isn't touching home or away (Tenn, Auburn, Bama, KY, Florida) and another 3 or 4 that we probably can't beat. At the end of the day, he could be the greatest bench coach every, but if he doesn't have the Jimmy's and Joe's, he aint winning in this league. Period.

Pearl also already had a history of success in the sec to go along with his personality that leads to more excitement.
It’s sad that Auburn is more committed to winning at basketball than us

Why do you think people post that nonsense? It’s obviously inaccurate and makes posters seem like they’ve never watched his games but still it’s like a mantra. The cult of McMahon is something to behold.

Even if it was somehow true, this isn’t football X and o in basketball is much less sophisticated. Especially in modern winning basketball.
It’s also funny they believe MM is better X and o guy than Wade and Wade could only recruit despite him having very detailed advanced analytics he used to game plan.

Their games are both on YouTube. All anyone has to do is watch a few minutes of one after the other and it’s obvious this talking point is false. But more importantly is that we’ve seen 3 cycles of players now ranging from top 100 recruits to accomplished veteran transfers yet the same mistakes and problems are still front and center. This isn’t a personnel problem.

Bruce was damaged goods when Auburn hired him, his rap sheet goes back to 1989 and followed him everywhere he went.
That's why he had to take a job at Auburn. Not a lot of schools at that time were willing to take that chance, perfect fit though, Auburn never shied away from cheating ways. Hell he even got sanctions a few years into his tenure there.
But ultimately, Pearl made the most of his third or fourth chance, and you can say it was a commitment or a roll of the dice - whatever it was, Pearl forced a commitment by his success and force of personality.

Biggest complaint about McMahon is his inability to promote the program. To generate fan interest in basketball, you have to be part carnival barker. (see Dale Brown, Will Wade, Kim Mulkey) McMahon's personality is just not conducive to growing a program at LSU.

I could argue they lost two of their top three players. That would be a blow for any program, but a program like LSU just magnifies that.

Perhaps initially. But the ONLY thing that really matters is winning. The coaches you mentioned (Brown, Wade, Mulkey) have big personalities. But more importantly, they won. I promise you, if Wade were 11-26 in the SEC his first 2+ seasons the apathy would be the same as it is now.
The fanbase WANTS to support the program. The crowd on Saturday was the best crowd of the season in terms of attendance. But when you've lost ~70% of your games against major conf. opponents you are going to have a hard time generating consistent support...no matter how much "carnival barking" you do. That's not unique to LSU. That's every fan base, in every sport, everywhere.

My sister who was at the game with us 3 brothers is a WBB season ticket holder and she noticed and commented the difference in coaching styles of Mulkey and McMahon, She said Mulkey coaches every play, Always in the coaches and players ear but said McMahon just stands there arms folded, Stated asst. coaches are doing more coaching than he was and this was her 1st game of attendance under McMahon.
