I mean, sometimes learning what NOT to do is just as important as learning what to do.

A wildcat zone read is a trick play?

A short trip to his wiki page will show you. He's bounced around a bit, but I don't think there's a single long-tenured college coach that hasn't done the same in order to work his way up.

How was hiring Canada a mistake?

Honestly somebody explain this

- We wanted a glitzy offense
- Canada provided that
- O dialed it back
- Canada and O couldn't reconcile differences
- Canada left
- E replaces Canada and we were back to where we started

Sure the situation didn't play out how we wanted and it's widely accepted speculation O told Canada how the offense was going to go basically neutering most of what he wanted to implement.....

but to call his hire a "mistake".... am I missing something? I thought it was an exciting venture that just didn't pan out due to personalities.

Delly gave up proof-reading when Alleva was fired.

No matter how you feel about Canada.

O hired him. And people continue to excuse his mistakes.

More than one poster asserted that Canada was Alleva's choice, and Canada was hired over Orgeron's objections. I dont know if its true, but that would explain some of the rumored animosity between the two of them.
Orgeron seems to be big on relationships, when Canada was hired I thought it was weird that O would hire someone he had never worked with before.

Just read a great quote from David Burge

A rule of life that especially applies to sports fandom:

If you encounter an a-hole once a year, they're an a-hole. If you encounter an a-hole every day, you're the a-hole.

I highly doubt that. I honestly don’t think orgeron does anything outside of clapping his hands and telling the team they are one heartbeat on a weekly basis.

Imo Coach Mason should hire Canada. He would shut any attitude down and Canada can do more with less. And now that Vandy can go get that stud RB and also usually have solid TE’s which is big for the Canada offense, I believe that would be interesting and make the Vandy offense relevant.

Yea but Etling should have hit Chark atleast once

Etling DID hit Chark once. At the goal, in the head if Chark hadn’t swerved to the left at the last moment. That was a dime dropped by Etling that Chark 100% blew.

O dialed back Canada's offense that he specifically ran the year before at Pitt. He should've known exactly what he was getting. Gimmicky shifts, and an arse load of them.

Also it was widely understood that Canada was a dickhead, and had problems with previous HCs.

He had JUST been fired/left on bad terms from NC st, after having two good offenses because he couldn't get along with the HC

If O thought he was getting something different, he didn't do enough research.

Twice actually. One Chark mis-timed the jump but the ball was still thrown off target.

Jordy Cullotta has stated multiple times that once Kiffin fell through, Orgeron told Derek Ponamsky to find the biggest offensive name available. That isn’t Jordy speculating. Canada was O’s choice. Anyone saying otherwise is making more excuses for him.

What a strange interview. I guess the guy’s gotta try to change the narrative about him, but damn.

I don’t recall ever having read it on tRant, but I heard a rumor involving Canada’s wife getting into a fistfight while she and Matt were at LSU. Has anybody else ever heard something along that line?

Again, it was a completely unsubstantiated rumor.

Are you being serious? Plus it was in garbage time after the game had been decided.

Y’all have some serious revisionist history about Canada. I wish I could go back and bump all of the threads from y’all bitching about his gimmick offense.
