USC got sanctioned into the stone age, and there is an argument that Texas waited too long to fire Mack Brown.
LSU has a ton of talent, Louisiana has a ton of talent.
We are willing to pay a lot of money.
Coaches want to coach in the SEC. Bielema left Wisconsin to go to fricking Arkansas.
Also lets not pretend Virginia Tech, South Carolina and Miami are on the same level as LSU right now.

Be careful what you wish for LSU fans
My wish is to lose a game not because we tried shoving a square peg in a round hole with unprepared players, but lose a game because we were well coached and prepared and the other guys just made better plays. No coach can win every time. But the loss should never be because they don't know what else to do other than what's obviously NOT working over and over. At this point, only a coaching change can deliver what I wish for.

tOSU and FSU have surely regretted getting rid of Tressel and Bowden
Not sure when they will ever climb out of the abyss.

You created a profile, thought of a name, found a picture, typed out many paragraphs and I didn't read any of it.

Don't compare LSU to USC. They were a breath away from the death penalty and did two horrible subsequent hires. They were tremendously restricted in the number of available scholarships because of this and what coach would want to take a job with their hands tied behind their backs. Everybody knew the character that Lane Kiffin had from the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee and it was pretty well known that Sarkisian was a train-wreck before they lured him away from Washington. USC had a program totally with no administrative control and Pat Haden has kept it that way all through the past decade. So you can't use their history of cheating followed up by stupidity of past hires to project the future at LSU. They are NOT apples to apples. Not even close.
Every other school you've listed [with the exception of Virginia Tech] has lots of other competition within their state borders for the top talent. LSU has a very unique situation in a very talent heavy [per capita] state for football players. The LSU job is unique in that way. Any quality coach candidate knows this and knows it very well. That is a huge lure.

Truer words have never been spoken.
As I have said before.......
"Be careful what you wish for....."
And yes, I will SCREAM "I told you so" as loudly and as longly as I possibly can when the next three football coaches tank and Alleva is fired and TAF runs out of money because it has fired the football coach and the basketball coaches and the baseball and softball coaches and tennis coaches because a few petulant fans are not happy......

If Les is let go, this program will tank. It will be a true return to the 1990s, and will mark the return of true mediocrity to the LSU football program.
Can people honestly not stop and actually process what is happening at Texas, or Southern Cal? These are historic programs that are steeped with prestige and loaded with resources (yes, more than LSU).
And look at them. Both of those programs have been abysmal for years. If it can happen at those schools, it can certainly happen at LSU.
Oh, but LSU will lure in a top coach, right? Everyone wants to come here, right? Let me throw out a few names for you - Clancy Pendergast, Bob Shoop, Kirby Smart. Ring any bells? Yeah, these were the top DCs that were being thrown around this board this time last year. Because what DC wouldn't want to come to LSU, right? All the talent, the strong defensive tradition, etc. In fact, one of the local news reporters even published an article stating that LSU was in talks with Kirby Smart.
The next day, LSU hired Keven Steele. The best it could do.
So, don't fool yourselves into thinking that elite coaches will line up to come to LSU - they won't. And no, Jimbo isn't coming to LSU. But hey, I can be reasonable for a second. Would Jimbo coming to LSU justify the firing of Les Miles? Absolutely. Jimbo is one of the top coaches in the game at the moment. He's won a national championship, develops quarterbacks, is a brilliant tactician, and recruits at an elite level. But he's NOT coming to LSU. He'll use the situation to get a nice raise from FSU, and that will be the end of that.
So, any hire other than Jimbo would be a complete disaster for LSU. And since Jimbo isn't coming, let me tell you how this is going to play out.
Miles will be ruthlessly let go. The fans will cheer, thinking they're about to hire the next Saban and ascend into college football greatness. The LSU football program will enter the cold month of December with no coach, and a #1 ranked recruiting class that will slowly dissolve as players start committing elsewhere. The inept LSU Board and Alleva will take weeks to try and find someone after Jimbo decides to stay at Florida State. It will be a bloodbath trying to find any elite coach, as Southern Cal, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Miami, and others will be ravenous in their search for the best available. The weeks will go by, and by the end of December, LSU will finally settle on a coach. It won't be a big name. It won't please the fans. People will be up in arms screaming, "We fired Miles for ______???"
By then, Miles will be long gone. December will almost be over, and there will be about 10 or so recruits still committed to LSU. The #1 class will be all but gone, and LSU will become stuck with a new coach that excites no one, but was the "best" they could get considering the circumstances. And, worst of all, they're in somewhat of a financial bind as they still owe money for the next 6+ years to Miles.
That is what's going to happen, and you can take it to the bank. Miles is a massive asset and a top coach, but unfortunately, most of you won't realize that until it's too late.
Just copying this so we can bump later on for giggles.

Maybe, but heard the same exact argument in Arkansas when they fired Nutt. Hired two coaches since better than him

Dude, regardless we are sinking into a bad trend. Better now before it's too late.
LSU had to replace Saban unexpectedly and hired a mediocre coach in Les Miles (he was near a .500avg coach)... all he did was come in and maintain what was already established.
LSU is an established top tier program now that recruits with the best of them.. LSU has the talent to win on talent alone and Miles has done this.
LSU has already proven they can survive a coaching change while maintaining elite talent. Did Texas, UCS, or USC have two b2b coaching regimes win a national title?
Please tell me.. BECAUSE LSU has.. LSU was fine post-Saban, and LSU will be fine post-Miles if they don't wait too long before it gets bad.. LSU is still recruiting with the best of them.
I regret seeing LSU drop 5 games last season.
I regret seeing LSU lose 3 in a row by double digits this season.
I regret seeing LSU only win 2 bowl games in 6 years..
That is the current trend.. and judging by LSU puts more players in the NFL than any other program now.. don't you expect a bit better results.
What exactly is Les' great niche that he is bringing to the program other than maintaining? I believe another coach can AT worst be equal.. and AT best.. the sky is the limit here.
Seriously, with the way things are going currently.. it will not hurt LSU to go another direction.. and there is NO reason to bring up the bad times of LSU pre-Saban.. LSU is established and louisiana is a hot bed of talent and LSU has no in state competition unlike all of those other programs.

The USC is not a good comparison. They were hit with probation. Tennessee and Nebraska are better comparisons

I want the team to play well and be prepared. I want the coaches to make adjustments. I think being blown out of your division games is unacceptable. I want the coaches to develop the talent we get, If the coaches were doing a good job, the players would
Improve as the year goes on, but they don't. We need to move on.

It's a risk, for sure. Might go the way of Auburn when Tubs was let go, might go the way of Ohio State when Cooper was let go.

It would just kill you if Les Miles being fired was, like, you know, his own fault, wouldn't it?
