If Les is a massive asset and a top coach, how do explain our failures since 1-9-12?

His massive failures since 1-9-12 (just considering that time frame), put him at the 2nd highest winning percentage in LSU history, at .714 amongst all coaches who coached the same number of games. That's winning percentage since 1-9-12, mind you. That is eclipsed at LSU only by Nick Saban at .750, excluding the smaller sample size coaches, such as Arnsparger who only coached @ 30 games.

Fwiw, I'm fine with the change. But let's don't act like the guy has sucked his whole time at LSU, or even since 1/9.

In a perfect world this makes sense. You have no way of knowing if this will play out though.

You're ignorant. DCs didn't come here because of Miles and the Miles clause. Why come here for a one year rental deal?

As I said in a few posts today.....

"Be careful what you wish for......"

Of course many coaches would jump at $3-5 million per year plus perks....but do we really want them....????

It is a crap shot at best. There aren't many too many like Bear Bryant or Joe Pa or even Skip Bertman in coaching. It is a very rare set of circumstances like create those legends. Give Les the chance and quit whinning.

If we don't fire Les, we will run this stupid offense forever.

No, that belongs to Georgia and Florida.

And when you are searching for a coach, everyone else will have their hands in LA. 14,15 and 16 classes were supposed to get us back to bamas level of talent. LSU will only slide further behind now.

Mark my words ... as long as Les Miles is the head coach, LSU will not win another national championship.

At what point are we done giving chances? After he struggles with next years #1 class and 1 more year of "development"? After 3 more years of struggling? After his contract runs out?

Has the last 4 years not been enough of a chance? I think the last 11 years has has been a great chance for Les and it had it's bright spots, but as the saying goes, all good things must end.

this post could fill an abyss.

Oh and you are a scared bitch if your post is serious. I think LSU immediately improves with a competent coach. Talent alone is is how Les wins, and if a decent coach comes in, talent alone will get him at least where Les has gotten. Recruiting is my only concern with a new hire.

If LSU doesn't make a change soon, the program will suffer a systemic culture of undisciplined and disorganized offense, and with Steele, will continue to look lost on defense.

since this has never happened before (jimbo was coach in waiting and already CONTRACTUALLY committed) i'm just gonna say it won't happen here. we COULD make a great hire but we most definitely will have to go through multiple candidates that are using us for raises before we find someone who's situation allows them to come here. our best bet is a successful mid major guy.

the scenario the op paints is quite possible and maybe probable. the exact same scenario appears in recent history many, many times. how many coaches did bama go thru before getting saban? and they were damn luck saban was in the pros and unhappy and the dolphins owner let him out of his contract.

The more reasonable of us agree with you there. The same can be said for Mack Brown and Phil Fulmer. They were also really good coaches who lead their programs to championships. People now claim that they were always terrible, but they wouldn't have accomplished what they did if they were.

However, both got passed up and lost their edge. Both took their programs down a few notches on their way out. I don't want to see that here. If not this year, then next year. It's time.
