But it's not like they had a hot month, they had a hot weekend. They were getting drilled immediately before the CUSA tourney.

Tulane was 2-8 in May going into their conf tournament. In the tournament they played 4 games before the championship. Three were against the same team, Houston. Who they had just played two weeks prior.

Their tournament win was a complete fluke. Does that mean they can’t beat LSU in one game? No. But it’s not enough to erase their horrible season and completely change LSU’s strategy

They then said we should pitch Hurd against Tulane

The worst take in the history of college baseball is when Mainieri didn’t start Lange in game 1 of the 2015 CWS.

Completely disagree. He had Poche who, while not as good as Lange, was a solid Saturday guy, and he was facing a very heavy lefthanded lineup. Starting Poche was an excellent call, and it was working well until Poche suddenly forgot how to throw to first base. His two errors were what blew that game.

Let’s just hope the bats awaken and it doesn’t matter who throws against Tulane.

Agreed. This take proves that he doesn’t really know his shite unless Tulane’s #1 starter was Steven Strasberg.

I’d be closer to starting Coleman or Money than I would be to using Skenes against Tulane.

Maybe he’s not an idiot, I don’t know, but that’s a pretty idiotic opinion.

Poche folded under the opening game pressure. Poche was better suited for game 2 after Lange gave you a win in game 1.

Lange was 12-0 with a 1.97 ERA in 2015 and Mainieri didn't start him to give you a big momentum building win to open the CWS. Unconscionable.

Plus Lange was tougher against left handed hitters than he was against right handed hitters.

Arkansas was all over him. It’s a long grind and the stats are starting to show that teams are figuring out how to get to his pitches

Skenes wasn’t placing his slider and curve ball properly. That was the issue, not Arkansas being all over him. He was forced to throw some fast balls that he didn’t really want to throw, because he just simply didn’t have his usual control on the slider and curve.

The catcher’s interference call is what got Arkansas cranked up. And… Skenes was pulled prior to that.

What has Money done this year to make anyone think he can go more than 3 innings? Throwing money almost guarantees you are tapping numerous arms Friday which you want to avoid.

My thoughts are this. If your #3 guy (likely Hurd) isn’t good enough to beat the 4 seed, then what makes a person think they would beat a 2 or 3 seed later in the tourney?

That is a pretty bad take. You pitch Hurd first then Skenes and follow that up with Floyd.

That's the best take in this entire thread. If our hitters were 1-9 consistent and didn't strike out 17 times in a game or go 3-20 RISP it would be safer to start Floyd/Hurd and save Skenes for the marble game. But with our recent hitting trends, I am not so sure it matters who the SP is for Game 1 against 19-40
