Our defense is always vanilla vs cupcakes.
Glad to see someone actually watched the game...
There were basically no blitz packages or stunts... Very vanilla...
Their game plan is always that way to a lesser team. The offense was the same way..

not sure what spears is talking about, LSU won, obviously nothing of concern pop out when you win.

I think both sides of the ball played very vanilla schemes. Aranda will only show his hand whenever he needs to show it. The defense played well against Miami and Auburn and in both games the QB was under pressure. I'm not worried about this. This is a none issue to me regarding the defense.

It seems like we are drifting back to the Les Mile"s offense!Get ahead quick & then just sit on the score! We do that from now own it will be a long season!
LSU got ahead of Miami, let them back in. Got ahead of Aub, let them back in. Got ahead of La. Tech, let them back in. See a pattern developing?

I don’t think they let Auburn “back in”....LOL
They’re a pretty good team you know...

He hasn't sent more than 4 much this season.
We blitzed constantly against Miami. Just not against Auburn or the 2 cupcakes.
Aranda knows what he's doing.

The only reason Spears continues to even be halfway coherent is that Nick Saban's dick is so small that it only partially impedes his speech.

Marcus Spears can finish eating Sabinisms dcik.

Whew, Thanks Marcus! Let me make sure to get this not to Dave ASAP.

Play was much more vanilla on both sides of the ball - I assume the lack of rush pressure was due to the big lead and the desire to give backup DBs some playing time and not leave them on an island on long balls. Problem is that it backfired as the Tech QB was able to extend plays with his feet and also get short passes out to his receivers in space to move the chains. What I have noticed is that LSUs entire defense seems to excel most when we play our DBs close to the line of scrimmage to disrupt routes. Tech happened to have a couple of very good receivers who our DBs simply could not cover. One kid had about 100 yds on 10 catches. Greedy was the only star in the backfield last night - everyone else looked vulnerable. I expect Aranda to appliy much more LOS pressure whether thru blitzes or simply more "man" coverage at the LOS. We are better off getting burned from time to time than allowing teams to move methodically down the field by giving up too much time and space on the LOS.

I wanted to see LSU’s secondary get tested, because of the schedule ahead, maybe Aranda wanted to see the same thing, but got more than what LSU bargained for. La Tech had allusive receivers getting open a lot.

Aub is more of a rushing offense compared to Ole Miss, Ala, and Ga.

Marcus Spears is the Verne Lunquist of commentators.....since we are the Browns ya know.

find some blitz packages

Spears was telling Doug Moreau, that Aranda has to do a better job of dialing up different blitzes, he depends too much on only 4 guys getting to the QB. It's simply providing too much time to find a receiver, allowing QB's to get in a groove. Spears noted this. No secondary can handle for an entire game what Aranda is asking LSU's secondary to do. The SEC teams on LSU's schedule have spectacular passing offenses. Whatever reason Aranda has for not blitzing, he'd better find some blitz packages that work and soon. LSU has the athletes everywhere on defense, its up to Aranda to use them appropriately.
Ole Miss is one of those teams with an exotic passing offense. I truly believe you will see pressure next week from a lot of blitzes that were not in the game plan this week. I believe there is a very specific reason for that.
In Aranda I trust.

Amen. Because we didn't get great pressure against LaTech, people are bagging Aranda. It's embarrassing for them.

LSU sent an extra man maybe 5 times the whole game. They're not showing their hand against LA Tech

LSU had zero pass rush all game. That needs to improve
Aranda's having to drop LB's into coverage. Aside from Williams and Delpit, this secondary is very average.
Alabama and Georgia are going to eat us alive, because they can spread us out and still rush effectively from the spread.

This. Latech made halftime adjustments and Aranda was no where to be seen making the counter.
LaTech did LSU a favor guys. Aranda now has damn plenty of film of what worked against him going forward.
