We need a change in philosophy and recruiting philosophy. The players Paul is bringing in are just not good enough

Development is the biggest need. LSU recruits talented kids but I feel many don't play to their potential.

He is currently the most successful coach at LSU and just took his team to the level equivalent of a sweet 16. The people that matter understand his position.

What changes next year staff wise, I don’t see fans taking another year of this!

It just seemed like this team as a whole lost focus at times. Like they just weren't into it. IDK if that's on the players or the coaches. Maybe that number 1 preseason ranking got to their heads and they figured they just had to show up and they'd win, IDK.

1. LSU doesn't recruit enough big players who are as good offensively as they are defensive.
2. LSU doesn't develop players enough nor enforce fundamentals enough to their All-Star players. It's ridiculous seeing base running errors that little league coaches know how to correct.

Sounds like you’re really invested in LSU baseball.

I have been watching lsu baseball since the 96 season. I even watched them through the Smoke years. This program has grown stale, but the Mainieri disciples just don’t want to see it.

Paul not coaching an actual area of the game (pitching, hitting, catching, baserunning, something) severely limits the staff. Constantly hiring former players who've shown no ability to actually coach kills the staff.

The last 2 teams we played -- Southern Miss and FSU -- had some of the best plate discipline I've seen at this level. They didn't swing at a lot of bad pitches, they didn't get themselves out on pitcher's pitches, they weren't scared of getting 2 strikes, and they battled every PA, up and down the lineup. They work the pitch count all game long.

Meanwhile, our hitters constantly swing at balls and care more about putting the ball in play than hitting it hard somewhere. They worry more about striking out than getting on base.

This has been consistent in the Mainieri era. He relies on talent , effort, and emotion to win games instead of developing players that become fundamentally sound. It’s one of the reasons why we lose so many midweek games. Players play with no emotion and are not fundamentally sound enough to overcome it.

When you add the base running errors, it's a real clusterfluck.

Pitching won't be a problem, it's offensively where LSU is in trouble. Big Trouble!

nps……..very true! I think our discipline has really been bad.....we could have a lot more walks, and could have driven pitch counts up on opposing pitchers. Also, our bunting skills seem to be non existent.....recall many times during the year where a good bunt could have been very beneficial.
