excuse me, but we have a half dozen players who take 2 called strikes just to get ready for their swing at a pitch in the dirt.

Some of y’all are dumb as hell. That 80 year old man has won a ship pile of games over his career. Winning 40 games a season for however many years in a row he did it, is unbelievable.

Also shits the bed in the postseason every one of those 40 years, many times as the top seed.

Henry
Marceaux
Walker
Fontenot
Hilliard
Beck
Vetmeier
Hill

And Labas will be back.

Like I said, you’re a moron.

We had the NUMBER 1 rated recruiting class last year you idiot!!! So someone must think the guys he picked were pretty damn good, so good that there wasn’t another team in the country ranked ahead of our talent!!

And last time I checked PM isn’t writing any of the recruiting prospects up on any of the recruiting sites!!!

Love it when guys show how little they really know about a sport they bitch about!!

What the frick are you talking about you idiot!!! We have Landon & Cole coming back for sure “unless the quit highly unlikely” they are both freshmen! I am not even going to go thru the rest of the pitchers because by that statement alone of yours, you have no fricking clue what your talking about dumbshit!

Consistently against SEC lineups?

quote:

Henry - Debateable
Marceaux - Yes
Walker - Yes
Fontenot - Debateable
Hilliard - No
Beck - No
Vetmeier - No
Hill - Complete Unknown

Critical point being 3 innings.

I don’t want to be negative, but what does anyone see from Mainieri at this point that makes you think that he could ever win a title again?

First not a big fan of PM and would luv for him to retire, but come on look at what happened to our pitching staff this year! It was decimated the entire year with injuries!! It sucks but sometimes the injury bug hits and there isn’t shite you can do about it!

Does that mean PM doesn’t shoulder some of the blame? Nope, but it is hard to fight for championships injured in the place you can least afford to be injured and that is the pitching staff when you are playing against championship caliber teams!

We scored 8 runs in 2 games vs. FSU's pitching. While Henry and Marceaux were non-factors, our pitching kept us in the games for long stretches. They damn sure weren't great, but scoring 4 runs in each game vs. a 3-seed who didn't have great pitching is the bigger issue.

Some of that lack of scoring was because we aren't a well-coached bunch who run into outs and do dumb shite, but they still could've overcome those mistakes with more hits. But we rely on stringing multiple singles together instead of taking walks and getting XBHs.

I can't say I'd be disappointed to see more Beloso type bats in LSU's lineup. Take the MLB approach.

More strikeouts, but more gap to gap power.

The teams remaining at the time we lost all had 3+ hitters with OBPs over .400 and 3+ with SLGs over .500. I think Stanford was the only exception with OBP, but they had 5 or 6 above .392.

LSU had 1 with a .400 OBP (Smith) and 2 with a .500 SLG (Smith and Cabrera).

Our entire approach is "swing early, make contact, don't K" and that's pretty much it. We don't walk, we don't get XBHs. If we don't have a lineup full of Kramers and Coles and Joshs and Zachs and Antoines, we're gonna struggle to score.

Let's not forget HOOUUUUSTON!

Skip Bertman should have his name removed from the field, it's an embarrassment to his legacy!

Yep. Been saying this all season. Paul has done a good job overall, he’s gotten complacent. The practices are a joke. He isn’t involved nearly to the degree that he needs to be and the way he’s structured his staff is unacceptable.

There are people who can actually coach hitting, base running, and recruit at a high level. This groupthink garbage that has permeated the board about being helpless bc you have to have a volunteer hitting coach is straight ignorance. Paul chose to paint himself into that corner with the way he promoted certain people.

A thorough evaluation will happen in coming days and it’s long overdue.

Mainieri has grown soft or complacent, too many errors to let this continue. He needs to correct .the ship. I didn’t want to fire Miles either, just get your arse in gear. Change philosophies, something has to change. Eventually something will as Miles learned
