Again, I'm far from the staunchest of CPM jockriders. I don't have much faith he'll do anything different this year than in the 7 years past.

But it's fricking March. Let's at least wait until June to declare him in "June form". There's a reason they play it in the field.

Well we've been to Omaha twice in about 8 years so while we're relaxing the facts are showing CPM can't cut it.

I will agree that CPM has serious issues with pitching decisions. However, as far as sitting a pitcher for walking the first batter, no. You would damn near run out pitchers during a game. Give him a little time to calm down down and get his confidence back. If a pitcher comes in and immediately struggles and shows no sign of recovery, then you definitly need to look at pulling him. Don't let him dig a hole with multiple guys on base with no outs and allowing the opponent to score at will. Peterson was left in far to long and the damage was done both to his confidence and his team. That is a CPM trademark.

I agree. But after facing two batters, it was obvious to everyone but Mainieri apparently, that Peterson had absolutely no command and leaving him in was going to be a disaster. Which, of course, it was.

No, there is no hard and fast rule, but a perceptive head coach realizes that his set up man is flailing and you change horses before he blows the game.

I'm not a CPM hater but if a reliever walks the first batter when you have a lead you absolutely yank him immediately. Walks are the enemy of leads
