Here's to Bush giving us 8 solid innings tomorrow

Pitching Hillard in a non elimination game on short rest was very dumb, and I said it at the time so this isnt hindsight I usually am a CPM supporter too. But that was not wise
Hilliard pitched on five days full rest. That is plenty rest for a pitcher, its the normal rest in the pros where they play a longer season.
I am sorry he is hurt, but I don't agree a coach is at fault for pitching a kid on five days rest.

He was used to pitching every 7th day (6 days rest)
He pitched on Friday in Auburn, and then Weds in the tournament. Friday was his normal rest for what he is accustomed to at this point
For the first year in his college career, shortening his rest by 2 full days in a non elimination game was not wise.
Now, like I said, it may not have been the reason for injury, but I still dont think it was smart

CPM said nothing structural just fatigue.
What is the status of Storz? has Caberra been working at all as a pitcher in practice? Walker?

what about Gilbert?
We will need a 2017 Gilbert like performance from someone if we intend on winning this regional.

Well guys, it's been a rough year, but we return A LOT next year including Walker. Should be a top 10 team and it will be a blast.

So Hilliard threw 97 pitches on Friday, had 4 days rest, and threw 97 pitches on Wednesday. Unless I'm missing anything, he's on 8 days rest as of today. How did we screw this up?

He has shoulder soreness. It happens. Can't do anything about it but rest.

Yeah, I get that, but throwing him against UF on 4 days rest was always going to be a risky decision. Damn that sucks.

I didn't intentionally leave him off the list, but I won't be very hopeful if we reach a point where he has to enter the game.
Given our injuries, it will be an incredible accomplishment to win this regional. It would be miraculous if we won it coming out of the loser's bracket.

I'm sure it was a contributing factor.
Do you think it was more or less of a contributing factor than his cumulative workload vs his smaller frame?
ETA: It could have just been the tipping point too.

We pretty much need Hess to dominate them Saturday going deep into the game and piece together 1 win in the next two. Unlikely but definitely possible

Is there even a small chance Paul is using a little gamesmanship here and Hilliard walks out there on Sunday?
That's 3 more nights of rest, ice, dry needling, etc.

Look I am not pitchfork after CPM for this, and I am not even saying it contributed at all. It could be a coincidence entirely
I just said at the time I would not have pitched a young pitcher on 2 days short rest for what he is accustomed to in a non-elimination game. And I stick to that

I don't think that's ever really been his style, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. I would bet heavily against it though.
