Wade is still young and developing as a coach. iMO his first time here he was still so young as a coach especially for this level he had a hard time figuring out the balance of focusing on offense vs defense. We were great offensively for years and horrible on defense. Then he realized that and one year we focused heavily on D and switching on every screen because we had length and athleticism to do so and D greatly improved but offense went down. Part of growing pains at this level. If he ever figures out the right balance of focusing to where we are solid on both sides then sky is the limit cause players love him and he can obviously bring talent in. I’m excited for sure
yes and wade has said this many times, including on his coaches show years ago, as well as since he was rehired.
the Eason/Gaines team was incredible on defense, but when they lost pinson the offense fell apart. wade said at the time on the radio that he was looking to merge the perfect amount of offensive talent with pure effort athletes that play defense.
some of the previous teams, he had players like cam Thomas who were greenlighted on offense and scored like crazy but the defense was shite.
I think he has learned a lot about team optimization and is recruiting two way players now, like niang. not everyone can be Eason and dominate on both ends, but I think wade is trying to head that direction.

Do me a favor if you get a chance. Compare Dale and Wade's first 5 years at LSU and get back to me with your analysis if you don't mind.
BTW, I'm an 80s kid who grew up LOVING Dale and LSU basketball.
There is LITTLE DOUBT in my mind that Wade will screw around and win a national title
over the next 10-15 years.

when wade is done it will be obvious to everyone he was the best coach the school ever had
LOL
He had a LONG way to go then. Most don't like dale, but many on here didn't even watch him in his prime first hand. I don't remember the number but I think he made like 12 straight tourneys, with obviously 2 final fours and another screwing out of a final 4....and several sweet 16s. Wade has time, but to this date, to my knowledge, and I could be wrong, has never won 2 games in a tournament on the floor. That's a stretch what you are saying. Hope you are right.

That's quite a stretch from never making a sweet 16 wouldn't you say. What's he been coaching now, 20 years? Hope you are right. You guys think I don't like him. He is an improvement over what we had, but what has he shown from a coaching standpoint, Xs and Os, that he can do that? He was good when he was getting all the talent before NIL, but now it's all out in the open. Even then, he couldn't go very far in the tournament.

its fine that we disagree. I am just hoping not to be misrepresented. I think wade is a genius. well liked by players, excruciating attention to detail, embraces analytics, knows X's and Os, is an incredible stats analyst, is an in-game manager without peer. he also has correctly predicted almost everything that would happen with NIL, because he is a genius. no one could possibly be more optimistic than me about the future with wade. and yet the people here call me a wade hater. its fascinating.

correct. changing dynamics in the game will put LSU along with blue bloods like Kentucky and Duke. wade is the perfect man at the perfect time.

Do me a favor and compare them after 10 years. Do you realize what LSU was before Dale got there. Yes, Pete was there years before but they weren't any good. Dale built the LSU program. He was great at going out and hyping these huge games out of conference, against teams like Georgetown and UNLV prime....and selling out the dome. He ran the program in the ground eventually sure, but there were some circumstances surrounding that.

WTF? Most? There’s no way you can support that.

Then why in 20 years (dont know his exact number of years coaching) has he never made it far in the tourney?

knows X's and Os,
100% disagree. When he was here before it was street ball. Thats a fact. That's fun and all, but the real winners play defense and are disciplined on offense, taking care of the basketball. Maybe he has improved.

OK
All I ever hear on here is negativity towards him, and mostly by people who didn't even grow up in that era. It was a great time to be a basketball fan at LSU....until around the mid 90s.

random chance and he was either barred from coaching or the tourney canceled for some of his best teams.
tournaments are more random than winning percentages. wade says this. he says his goal is to make the top 4 of the league, get the double bye and then roll the dice in the tournament. anything can happen in the tournament, you might get bounced early, you might go deep. but you cant bank on it, you simply make the dance and roll the dice.

I think what appeared to you to be streetball was a by design isolation offense where they moved the ball and caused defensive switching for mismatches and then one vs one drives that led to baskets or fouls. wade wants to draw free throws, so he sends players to the rack. he wants to make more FT than the opponents take, he says this all the time.
that stats showed those teams were elite offenses. because wade is a genius. and I repeat this every day and people still say I am a wade hater, when all I do is quote him and say every day over and over how awesome he is.

I’d agree people who didn’t witness his era probably heard more stories from the end of his era which wasn’t good but the man is beloved by LSU fans and is a cornerstone person in the foundation of LSU athletics regardless of sport. His name is nationally synonymous with LSU.

I made a reply and was kidding with madking, not ridiculing.
Are you always an a-hole? My comments were honest, I thought he wasnt coming. He came so good. What so bad about that? Nothing.
I can pull several posts of yours where you ridicule several posters on this site for years and years with autonomy. Congrats on being the ultimate KnM warrior.

yep, the general gonna lead us to the round of 32....and all his supporters will be dancing in the street. I remember a stretch when we also used to make the tourney every year, except we would usually go pretty deep. That has never happened one time in his history.
Sigh. They need a vaccine for WDS (Wade Derangement Syndrome)
