re: LSU’s offense isn’t a talent problem — it’s a sequencing/self-scout problem (receipts)

I liked him too. I see it now though, this era is not for him. The game has passed him by. It happens to the best of them.

The 2nd down and 10 after an incomplete pass, we’ve run in the situation for about 2 straight years every time. I was noticing that last year.
Outside/ Inside zone run that never works on 2nd and 10

The SEC isn't for the weak at heart and it isn't just something we say to elevate ourselves

Let me guess what your winning percentage is with all this? 57%? Say otherwise.

They tried to flip the script on the 1st down run percentage yesterday. Before the final drive they only had 3 carries on a 1st down.
It blew up in their faces.
The 2nd and long run is the most predictable and vanilla play in football and is 100% coming from Kelly. It’s an old school mindset that doesn’t work.

BK is the problem.
It’s so funny to me, that the OP took the time to lay out every single FACT involved in the offensive woes. Paragraph after paragraph of pertinent info that says there’s more than enough blame to go around for everyone
Yet you simpleminded cavemen can’t stop yourselves from saying HURR DURR ITS COACH KELLY every single chance you get
We get it. You dont like him. He has his faults but he’s also shown overtime that he at least tries to get it right. Give him a chance. Still a real decent chance this team can finish strong

Good post and largely matches the eye test.
Slogan’s scheme is fine, in fact I’d say it’s pretty good. The sequence of playcalling isn’t. And Nuss isn’t good.
The playcalling can be fixed. Can Nuss? I don’t know.

I think you’re wrong about the OL and lean too heavily on one stat (sack rate). The OL is very bad, making it hard to build an offense. Very thoughtful post, though.

Apparently you like stats. Here’s a few for you:
84 offensive plays
480 total yards
28 first downs
4 of 5 in the red zone
Dude are you seriously going to try to out stat this guy lol.
Reminds me of an old saying, "never try talking teeth with a dentist..."

All that is true, and there’s an offensive skill talent problem too. Especially once you lose Aaron Anderson.
Yesterday, in year 4, LSU didn’t have a single BK HS recruit contributing on offense until Berry in the 4Q. All those portal guys would be nice final pieces, but none of them are dynamic enough to say this offense actually has a bunch of skill talent, and that is exacerbated by the fact that the offense has no “easy button” stuff.

What you fail to mention is that it is not just a run or pass call problem. It is the design of the play under the situation. For instance, I counted 3 maybe 4 times LSU had 3rd and short...less than 2 yards, and our receiver caught the pass (another positive completion stat for the QB) and couldn't get to the first down marker....Parker made valiant effort to barely make the 1st down after running a route at least one yard short of the first down marker. Whatever happend to running to directly at a defender about 5 yds, and turning around and coming back to the QB for an easy throw and making the yards to gain. That has been called a button hook pass for the eternity of football, and LSU has never run the play as I described it. LSU doesn't play basic solid situational football on offense....it is horrible play design by our HC/OC. Any top HS coach in LA could do bettter for way less money, which could be used to buy more top players, which btw, will soon be the direction of how money is spent in college going forward. No more huge contracts to coaches that produce NOTHING. Most of the $ will go to buying players. Can you imagine LSU with a top HS coach making $200,000 per year and 10 million a year going to buy all the best players, every year. Which approach do you think would produce the best team?

2nd & 10 run habit (61% run, 0.60 yds/play, 10% success) is a drive killer.
This is impossible to wrap our heads around. This is the worst rushing offense in the NCAA.

Throw on first, stop the 2nd-and-10 run habit, diversify money-down answers, add a couple of shot calls
So when do we run? 2nd and short and 3rd and shot?
Isn't that predictable?

I think it can be good but only in the right situation. It feels like all of his play calling is predetermined, almost scripted. He has no ability to pivot if something isn't working and he refused to adjust and take what the defense was giving him. You can play against the worst run defense or the worst pass defense and the play calling will be the same regardless of matchup.
And it's the same thing with his own personnel. His offense needs a mobile QB but he doesn't have one and refuses to adjust for that. You can still win in cfb today with a pocket passer, but you can't do it in this offensive scheme

The refs kept it close in Oxford. First LSU game I've ever watched and thought the refs were actually all in for LSU.
Removed a pick 6, missed multiple holds AND tick tacky “push” on Weeks that allowed an added to a drive with an additional 50 yards in penalties.

It was DPI on the pick six. DB could have made a smoother play and gotten the same result but he didn't. Weeks lost composure and gifted a 3rd and 20 with a personal foul. These weren't controversial calls.

On straight ML bets? No much much higher.
Spread? Sometimes much better sometimes much worse. I dont wager the same amount on every game.
