Prepare to be disappointed. LSU is not in any position to be in the playoff every year.

Hell, if we would be getting in with the worst defense in history, it will be very rare us not to make it every year going forward.

WAY off base there. LSU's defense would prevent them from winning a championship, but their offense prevents anyone from curb-stomping them, too. LSU would be the epitome of the "aw frick, THEY'RE in our bracket" team that nobody wants to face. Once the offense starts clicking (which it has in every game after week 1), you're faced with basically having to score every series to keep pace. There are teams, even playoff teams, that just aren't built to score. Watch some Penn State games, their QB just misses people at times. Same with Michigan. You do that on a third down against LSU in the 2nd half, and suddenly you have to go for it at midfield, and anything can happen. That's the type of pressure that can kill teams even if they convert a couple times, because it's gonna happen the next drive too.

Nah. Fans would enjoy a comparable game against a peer opponent. Not a mismatch.

Once you lose by multiple possessions, you are playing semantics of the definition of “curb stomp.” And it happened to LSU multiple times, one in November so you don’t even have a “team development” rationalization to play.

They would not have made the playoff. Tulane was making it over us since they were highest ranked conference champion. Go read the rules. It’s not the top 12 teams.

I enjoyed LSU playing Nebraska in the Orange and 2 Sugars. Those were mismatches. Didn't mean we didn't have a chance; we easily could have won the Orange.

What?
Ok, we got drilled by Fla State, in game one.

We lost a wild shootout to Ole Miss.

We lost by 2 scores to Alabama, AFTER Daniels got knocked out of the game on a big (questionable?) hit. I think he had more scores in him that game. He's proven time and again that he could pull TDs out of his arse when it looked desperate.

Plenty of teams jumped on us this year, only to not keep pace once we got clicking. I don't think there's a defense in today's game that could stop this offense once it hits a groove... we have a puncher's chance against anyone.

The team with the best record does not always win. The team with the best defense does not always win.

Now, I don't think this team makes it into the playoffs this year, it's right outside the border. But it's definitely not a matchup anyone would want. You go into a game with LSU, and you're thinking "ok, 35 almost definitely ain't enough. 42 might not be. We can't afford to miss in this game". That's not what you want to deal with, because it's foreign to most coaching styles.

Like someone pointed about, A&M (granted, not a good team) did everything they could do, executed great. Lots of conversions, held the ball, scored seemingly at will. Big plays too. And looked up at the scoreboard late and saw they were down a possession anyway, with nothing left in the tank.

What?
Nope

Would have been Bama (SEC), Texas (Big 12), Washington (Pac 12), Michigan (Big 10), Fla State (ACC), Liberty (CUSA).
That's your 6 conference champs.

Then, the next 6 highest ranked teams:
UGA, Ohio State, Oregon, Missouri, Penn State, Ole Miss (in that order).

Playoff would be:
Michigan (#1)
vs
Oregon (8)/Missouri (9)

Alabama (4)
vs
Fla State (5)/Liberty (12)
winners to play 1st semifinal

Washington (2)
vs
Ohio State (7)/Penn State (10)

Texas (3)
vs
Georgia (6)/Ole Miss (11)
winners to play 2nd semifinal

Looking at that, I wouldn't mind being seeded 5th to even 8th. You're getting a home game to start with, then if you win that you get a neutral site game against a team you should be able to play with **as long as you don't have a key injury**

Really, if Fla State had Travis at QB, then teams 1-8 all have a chance at winning the playoffs in this format. Nobody would be SHOCKED if Oregon or Ohio State won... it's when you get to 9-12 that the disparity hits.

For the eye test, the committee would have put in every school with a Heisman Finalist.

Who cares? We would have made state if my rb didn't get hurt. I'd have played for LSU if I could run a 4.4.

Ok so no discussion about if next year's system were now. In fact, let's not have next year's system next year because it's not next year yet. If we were dogs, we'd have fleas, so why are we posting on the internet?

No posting. No one should even play football. No one should have fun. No discussions about fun.

If LSU gets in at the 12 slot, what have you seen to make you believe that this defense doesn’t get completely curb stomped by the highest seed without a bye.

Oh really? How many coaches have 100 million dollar contracts?

It's the low IQ's rally cry. My favorite one is, "why would he even care with 10 mil a year coming in?"

I believe we would have been in the playoff this year IF we had had a defense.

The bigger question should be if this was a 12 team playoff and LSU didn’t make it, wouldn’t it essentially eliminate Daniel’s from the Heisman?

If there is a 12 team playoffs does Bama jump FSU still? I would not be shocked to see Texas 4 & Bama 5 in a 12 team scenario.

What happens when they give Milroe 2 more games to try and continue to build him resume? If you give Nix another game of stats and who knows what happens to voter perception.

ESPN displayed the 12 teams that were getting in on the mock playoff off bracket. Mizzou and Ole miss ranked higher than us as well. Does anyone not know the rules of the 12 team playoff. It’s not the top 12. It’s highest ranked conference champions and then highest ranked conference champions from the smaller conferences. Tulane was one of them.

Although specific game dates have not yet been announced, we can make predictions on how each matchup will appear. Keep in mind that the No. 12 seed will go to Liberty, as the Flames are the sixth highest-ranked conference champion in the final CFP rankings, replacing Oklahoma — a team that finished third in the Big 12 — as the No. 12 team.

No. 12 Liberty at No. 5 Florida State
No. 11 Ole Miss at No. 6 Georgia
No. 10 Penn State at No. 7 Ohio State
No. 9 Missouri at No. 8 Oregon

This is directly off the NCAA website explaining the 12 team playoff. LSU had zero chance to get in.

Ask A$M how it's going trying to buy their way in......

Money will not be the only factor as to whether LSU success or fails.

A ton of things have to fall right. The shrimp boat captain fell into a Natty when Joe Burrow showed up at his door, Joe Brady was available to teach an NFL offense, and 3 all world receivers landed in the recruiting classes simultaneously.

Lol

LSU sucked this year and had no business even sniffing the playoffs

LSU lost all 3 of their big games and would have been destroyed in the playoffs
