There is valid reason to believe LSU would have been selected to participate if the 12 team playoff had begun this year. Its likely the voters focused on choosing the final 4 from the 7 teams who were realistic contenders and paid scant attention to the teams which finished 8 to 13 in the final poll. Had there been an expanded field LSU and its dynamic offense led by the probable Heisman Trophy QB would have been difficult to leave out. Remember its the eye test as much as records which count and the LSU offense is unparalleled.

Oregon which lost out by a field goal to Washington would be a cinch.

Oklahoma with its victory over Texas is likely in.

Ole Miss with one win more than LSU including head to head is likely selected.

Despite one less win Daniels individual heroics lands the Tigers in the field over Missouri whom it beat head to head and Penn State.

The committee likely takes Penn State to avoid giving the SEC 5 of the 12 spots although Missouri has been explosive and is a feel good story.

Who cares? We would have made state if my rb didn't get hurt. I'd have played for LSU if I could run a 4.4.

They weren’t going to keep the Heisman winner out of a 12 team playoff if we right there at the edge

We would have been left out but 2 loss Missouri we beat by 10 at Missouri would have made it because we would have been punished for playing Florida state instead of grambling. Which should be a signal to the entire country - cancel tough OOC opponents. Alabama got their arse whipped at home in their big game, Florida state beat the hell out of the team they played at a neutral site and it didn't mean dick.

And Liberty would go over us because college football is controlled by Disney and god forbid equity isn't involved in the process.

TLDR- frick Disney and Bob Cuck Eiger

I believe in Kelly but you cannot miss a 12 team playoff unless you're coming off a natty run.

For 100 mil we should be in every single year.

Ah yes, Disney famously loves Liberty University.

No, we wouldn't have.

You have

1-7 are total locks.

You mentioned Oregon and OU. That's 9 total. Ole Miss over LSU. That's 10.

And then the playoff is built for the highest group of 5, which would be liberty.

Penn St/Mizzou and LSU are fighting for one spot. Probably doesn't go to LSU.

I disagree for the reasons I stated. If its simply best record then FSU is in this year and LSU would be out under any scenario. However, the eye east matters and LSU with Daniels is the choice over a team it beat and a fairly vanilla Penn State.

Maybe that's what Kelly meant when he said LSU was one year away.

My eyes told me all year that I don't want to see this LSU defense play any team with an above average offense.

First, who cares? Why are people so excited to barely sneak into the playoff where you get curb stomped the next game?

Second, your word vomit completely ignores the rules of the playoff (as well as completely ignoring locks like Ohio State). Its not the top 12 teams as determined by the committee. The top 6 ranked conference champions are in by auto bid. Then its the top of whoever is left.

So, Bama, Michigan, Florida State, Texas, Washington, and Liberty are all in.

Its more than a stretch to figure out a scenario that LSU gets in.

And frankly, they don't deserve it. They consistency looked bad in all of the top 3 games we had. But sure, they were title contenders

You do realize that this line no longer means anything considering the going rate of coaches?
