DL is better but still needs improvement especially with pass rush. Running game will continue to improve. We will need a pass rush to beat Bama.

The defense has not looked very good and they need to learn to make do with whoever is healthy, but they've had 4 key players who have only played two games (Lawrence, Chaisson, Logan and Divinity). Three of those guys were in our top four leaders for sacks last year and the 4th (Chaisson) would have likely been our sack leader, but missed basically the whole season. They've lost Harris for the season as well.

However, I don't expect those guys to all be out going down the stretch. I think LSU's D has about 7 starters that will eventually play in the NFL. Guys like Stingley, Fulton and Delpit are incredibly talented and will eventually make big plays like great talent does. This defense may not reach its full potential, but I think it will get significantly better when some of the other guys get back into the lineup.

As for the running game, some people act like Edwards is a bum. He had 15 carries for 87 yards against Texas in the biggest game we've played and they're 40th in rush D. He put up 147 against UGA's vaunted D last year on 15 carries too. He's averaging 5.65 ypc this year too. He's not explosive and we do need to work the freshman RBs in more for their explosive potential, but when your passing game is as awesome as LSU's is right now, you don't need a top 25 rushing offense, but a good one that can move the chains against some tough defenses in spots. He won't be able to dance around in the backfield against UF, Auburn, etc., but the coaches obviously feel Edwards in necessary while the young backs learn everything.

Also, LSU's special teams are great too. The FG kicker is 7 of 7, Stingley is in the top 25 for punt return average, we have a blocked punt for a TD already, etc.

With LSU having Florida, Auburn and aTm at home with the #1 scoring offense and a red hot, tough QB along with three studs at WR, I just can't see them losing 3 games in the regular season with all the talent they have (and the new offensive philosophy).

Knew I would cause a firestorm but love all the feedback. You are the only one who actually gave your outlook on my points; don't agree with you but at least your points were based on what I said and not some millennial emotional response.
