“We have some that would like to remove the policy and have others that have no interest in that,” Sankey said. “From a stadium wide (standpoint), there are those that think ‘Let’s just take the restraint off the conference level.’ But that’s not a unanimous or, I’m not sure right now, a majority position.”

The policy only can change through a majority vote of the 14 league presidents and chancellors, a possibility next month at the SEC’s spring meetings in Destin, Florida. LSU athletic director Joe Alleva has made it clear in which corner his school stands: LSU wants the ability to sell, at least, beer throughout Tiger Stadium and other venues.

I like beer. I am in favor of this.

Honestly the best argument to do this is that people can drink all the beer they want at home and watch every televised game

No the best argument is to out the schools that are against it and broadcast it to their student population.

Have someone leak to the media which schools are against to rack up the pressure.

It interferes with Alabama's tradition.

They don't sell beer the third Saturday in October.

If the wording of the conference rule is that alcohol sales aren't allowed in the stadium, then beer vendors should be allowed to set up immediately outside of the gates of the stadium, so attendees can go downstairs during the game, buy what they want, and re-enter.
I understand Tiger Stadium has a "no re-entry" policy, but a few stadiums have used roped off areas outside for smoking areas with no issues, so the same thing can be done for beer vendors.

Edit: Using this method would also weed out the way-too-drunk who would have to weave all the way down and all the way back up.

According to data obtained through an open records request, Texas raked in $2.8 million in beer sales, $128,321 in wine sales, and another $141,632 in liquor sales during six home games in what ultimately became a 5-7 season. Because of the money this could net, don’t be surprised if a middle ground ends up being the solution and the schools that want to adopt the measures get their way while abstainers get to keep their games dry in non-premium areas.

There would be less binging before the game and hard liquor smuggling into the game. Obvious drunks and underaged would be refused. Plus if UT can rake in $3 million, LSU should nail down $10 million easy in a normal 7 game home season.

It was nice drinking Dixie during the BYU game last year in the Dome. I wish Tiger Stadium would offer beer/alcohol.

The current situation forces me to be trashy and bootleg a flask.

I sat in the new south upper and bought beer. What makes them different?

Premium seats can have access to alcohol. Also, the upper decks aren't considered part of the stadium. Which is why LSU could get away with the recent conversion of the 1,500 general seats to the new Skyline Club.

Now 100% of the fans in the new SEZ expansion have access to alcohol.

LSU is doing all they can to get around this insane prohibition.

They'll cave whenever they start discussing profits from alcohol sales at UT.

$1.4mm of alcohol sales a game? I'll take the under on that by far.
