Don’t forget about all the other sports. LSU plays 35+ home baseball games a year and has abnormally high attendance for the sport, Will wade bringing back LSU basketball and bigger crowds, plus could you imagine a boozed up 12k for women’s gymnastics would be electric!

Alcohol in the stadium has close to 0% influence on the 2nd half attrition we experience. Its multifactorial but little to do with alcohol. Now, for those of us who stay the whole game - why not, let's have some fun.

the grandmas and grandpas, the tee-totalers...do you honestly think that literally 50% of the ticketed people in the stadium will be buying alcohol

hey man, 100% of the Louisiana grandmas and grandpas I know would be drinking. and maybe the 2 or 3 tee-totalers that attend would come from the visitor section and many of these type drink on the sly or when they are out of town. I think 50% would be buying the beer and that's a minimum.

Plenty of people pay less a game for Saints tickets and don't mind paying $9-10 a beer

I'm not sure of what you are arguing here.

$1.4mm of alcohol sales a game? I'll take the under on that by far.

We have 100,000 folks who pack the stadium. Let’s say 20% are in suites that won’t affect the per game sale number. Although, they purchase premium label alcohol through LSU at jacked up prices. Never the less, say 80K fans average 2 beers a piece. Some will be more, some not at all. But, let’s assume a 2 beer average. That’s 160K beer sales. Multiply that by 10 bucks a beer, and that’s $1.6 million. If you use 8 bucks a sale, it’s still $1.28 million. Per. Game.

It would cut down on the number of completely wasted idiots IMO. Won't have as many people leaving their tailgate area right after pounding down enough alcohol to keep them drunk all game if buying beer in the stadium was an option. And less people smuggling in flasks of hard liquor.

Totally not true
UT and Ohio St both did multi year studies where it showed serving beer in the stadium cut down on alcohol related incidents.

It really is amazing how unrealistic some of you are on this.

If someone wants to drink in tiger stadium they're going to drink. It's super easy to sneak a flask into the stadium and that person is gonna get more wasted drinking rum and cokes instead of beers.

Pot.Kettle.Black.

The problem I think is you are judging our fan base by yours. And equating Tiger Stadium with Sanford.

Both are hugely different. Louisianans as a whole don't have the same hang ups about drinking as our Bible Belt SEC brethern largely do. Else we wouldn't be having this conversation. Because then LSU would be selling alcohol freely throughout Tiger Stadium.

And add to that Tiger Stadium has about twice the premium seating that Sanford Stadium does.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me to learn that the University of Georgia was one of the schools opposed to the selling of alcohol at SEC events.

I don't take issue with other fan bases beliefs, except when they try to restrict others based on those same beliefs.

I don't think you understand what this means but ok.

I've done neither

You act like I haven't been to TS multiple times or undestand the "event" that is an LSU home game. You're not telling me new information

quote:

Tiger Stadium has about twice the premium seating

we're not talking abotu premium seating that already has access to alcohol. You can drink the suites at Sanford but if magically you could buy beer at Sanford those suites wouldn't affect the number of alcohol sales. We're talking about the general seating public that would be able to buy alcohol that as of now has previously not been able to.

How is this relevant to my original post that you replied to?

My whole point, that you glossed right over, is that 45K people (or half of the general seated public) aren't gonna be purchasing alcohol. I don't care how much your fanbase likes to drink, that is just incredibly unrealistic.

You just made my case for me. I'm saying the number of drinkers in "general seated public" is about half that, between 25K-30K from the remaining 82K+ in Tiger Stadium. Because about 20K of the premium seating with access to alcohol will be drinking.

I can understand your confusion to an extent, because Tiger Stadium along with Arkansas's RR Stadium are two of the very few stadiums with that high a number of total premium seating.

Edit: Forgot to add Ms. St.'s Davis Wade Stadium with 132 suites and 2,500+ club seats. Alabama's BDS, Tenn.'s Neyland Stadium, and TAMU's Kyle Field are somewhat behind that trio
