Most amazing part of this game- we only have 9 players dressed, and one of them is richard krajewski

I think they wore them once in the VI tournament this year. There is also a "gold game" later against Bama

I dont get it, Purple and Gold are supposed to be our main colors. Seems like now days (corporate LSU) its White and Purple.

I still have a VHS tape of this game. I plan to convert it to DVD soon.

I was the official scorer at a middle school game last week and we were talking about this game before the game. Imagine being the scorekeeper that night

Just sad to know that Hank died about 2 months after this game. They even mentioned that he had cut back on his medication.

Love hearing the lmu guys talking about how it was the loudest place they've played and how crazy it was. Hopefully it gets back that way soon.

Now this was exciting fricking Basketball! I want this brand again!!!

I think this point needs to be addressed, and Dale Brown actually touched on it towards the end of this broadcast when he was talking about LMU's coach revolutionizing basketball had he stayed at LMU and in the college game. This brand of basketball was certainly not the norm even then, but actual fast break basketball that featured big scores and up and down the court was a lot more prevalent then...and I miss it dearly.

What seems funny about that to me is at the same time we as a sports culture seem to consider defensive football boring and want 50-48 scores and nothing but vertical passing and spread offenses, we've gotten used to boring, milk the clock defensive struggles with less points being scored than what we saw in the first half of this LSU-LMU game. It's like we're watching games coached by Gene Hackman from Hoosiers but with some of the greatest athletes on earth. Have players and fans simply forgotten up and down basketball? Why wouldn't young guns see this game and think, "Holy shite...I was to play on THAT kind of system!!"

And yeah...I have this game memorized. I had it on VHS tape and wore it out...so great to finally have a digital copy of it! Now we need SEC Network to play a couple of CJ's 50+ point games. That overtime loss to Ole Miss where Glass went for 53 is astonishing! It's a shame that his NBA behavior cost him his well deserved good will he had while at LSU. The kid was a gem and everyone really did love him while here...and for those of you who didn't watch him play you missed one of the greatest individual talents ever. Basketball just doesn't look the same without that guy handling the ball, working that sick cross-over and running full blast down court and then stopping dead and pulling up vertically as the defender faded away from him and draining threes at the top of the key.

How good quality was the game on sec? My vhs copy is nearly unwatchable now.

Most people forget about Loyola's 181–150 win over United States International University on January 31, 1989 but after that game I remember wishing LSU could play them with our talent and then my dream came true.

Better than the Youtube version on line. I mean, it's not HD and it's not widescreen so the quality is about what you'd expect...but it's a good recording of it. As good as you'd ever get at this point.

Yep. I actually found it funny that Paul Westfaul acted like he thought LSU fans didn't know who LMU was. EVERYONE knew who they were and what they did. Gathers had lead the nation in coring the previous year and Bo Kimble was leading this year.

The astonishing thing was Dale Brown decided to just run with them! It's crazy when you think about it.

Other games SEC Network could show:

LSU-UNLV 1989
LSU Georgetown that same year I think played in the Dome

Already mentioned that LSU-Ole Miss game where CJ drops in 55.
