I won't lie, it is not pretty. But there is a very cool thing I uncovered when looking over the data.

LSU/UK Matchup History * (Average Scoring Margin)

Overall: 26-82 (-9)
Home: 21-37 (-2.9)
Away: 5-45 (-16)

When LSU is Ranked #1-10: 4-6 (-1.6)

When LSU is Ranked #11-25: 8-3 (5.8) *Silver Lining but still pretty cool to see our best record comes when we are ranked #11-25. (We are 2-1 on the Road in this same scenario)

When LSU is Ranked:

Overall: 12-9 (2.3)
Home: 9-6 (3.7)
Away: 3-3 (-1.3)

When LSU and UK are Both Ranked:

Overall: 6-7 (0.7)
Home: 4-5 (1.7)
Away: 2-2 (-1.5)

Interesting stats but they don't matter in terms of tomorrow night's game. Match ups matter. Can we out physical KU in the paint? I think we have a shot. Emmit Williams will have to play the biggest role in his short college basketball career. Of course Bigby and Naz have to bring their A game too and Waters needs to cut out the unnecessary turnovers. If the team can keep the turnovers below 10 we have a real good shot IMO. That's going to be up to Waters and Naz to keep the turnovers down b/c they make the most turnovers (but they also handle the ball the most).

I would have thought there were more than 108 games between the two schools. They've been playing forever, usually twice a year.

Can you get the record between LSU and UK when they play on Tuesdays in February?

Just messing with you, thanks for compiling those stats.

UK's worst home loss was to LSU, 76-41, in 1988 I think. Might have been 1987.

Close games. Was that ‘94 game the insane blown lead?

It was in 1987. Kentucky was coached by Eddie Sutton and weren't that good.

It was Jan 1987. I was in my second semester at LSU and I was from Kentucky. A couple of the guys I was in marching band with at LSU wanted to go to the game and wwanted me to drive them there since I was from there. I had no interest in it. I did NOT want to see UK trounce my Tigers at Rupp Arena. But James, Bill, and Wayne forced my hand and we went. It was undoubtedly the most awesome and wonderful basketball game I have ever been to. Rupp Arena is the basketball version of Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night, and we made that place as quiet as a church when the preacher's wife comes forward to announce that she has slept with half the congregation!

Being at that game as an LSU student traveling into enemy territory ranks right up there with being at The Earthquake Touchdown game my junior year! This is historically the best game (or games) of each basketball season. NOTHING will ever compare to Kentucky-LSU basketball games when both teams are clicking!

You know what the REALLY crazy thing is?

LSU has had as much success against them as any SEC school.

Which is very little but it's in the top of the conference!

So when LSU has a good team we do better against Kentucky than when we have a bad team?

Thanks for effort. The Tuesday nights thing is impressive!

But not really since we have a better record when we are not ranked in the Top 10 vs. when we are ranked #11-25, fwiw

So you’re saying that the years LSU has a good basketball team, we’re competitive with Kentucky? What a revelation
