All you need to know is that if LSU and McNeese played tomorrow on a neutral court McNeese would be the favorite.

They are 32 spots higher in the KenPom rankings than LSU. That’s unbelievable for a Southland conf team.

I would say that people understand this, but I've been on TD a long time and an LSU Basketball longer.

These dudes are idiots. If they watched 4 games this season, I'd be impressed.

What you fail to point out is that McNeese won enough games in and out of their conference. What it comes down to is that McNeese is in the tournament.

What are you talking about dude? Mississippi University for Women is a tough win!!

All jokes aside though, they do play an easy af schedule and they’re by far the most talented team in the southland- bias aside watching any of their games makes it look like the teams they compete against don’t belong on the same court as them.

The southland is utter dogshit and will wade is too good of a coach and his players are too good for that conference

Do you think Mid Major Matt would have won that conference with the situation Wade inherited?

It was an honest question. When you frame the success as you did it leaves open the interpretation that the stars aligned for them to do what they did. Now you’ve clarified any possible confusion by answering my question.

One team beat the teams they should have and won their conference and now are in the dance.

I suppose in a way the stars aligned for mcneese by hiring wade. He’s the best coach in that conference by far. He’s a good recruiter and the players he brought in could easily be playing P6, high, or mid major ball.

I’ve watched a handful of McNeese games this season and I don’t see how anyone could watch those games and come to any other conclusion than-

1. The southland is a terrible conference
2. Mcneese players are head and shoulders above the rest of that conference talent wise
3. Will Wade is the best coach and too good to be in that conference

That’s why I’m not surprised mcneese is doing well nor am I surprised they made the NCAAT. I think in a way it was easy for wade to make it because of his coaching ability and how bad that conference is by comparison. Sure it’s hard in a sense because it’s a one bid conference but let’s be real, was there ever any doubt?

Well they have Wells who’s good enough to play at a big school but other than that the talent advantages are in their depth mostly. What’s really stood out has been their defense. Wade continues to improve on that side of the floor and what used to be a question mark for him has become a strength. He was an outstanding coach for us here as a young HC but he’s becoming elite and is just entering his prime.

But those players aren’t the core or starters who are driving this team. Felder didn’t play until around new years and has given them at least a little size but he’s a bench guy. Saunders is the same a rotation guy and he played for Utah and Cinci, those 2 schools are represented by the same transfer. This is what I mean by their advantage comes from their depth. Those transfers you mentioned have 0 combined starts.

Fair enough. Either way wade constructed an amazing roster and it shows in how they dominate

His strength of schedule has exactly zero to do with getting an NCAA tournament bid.

Can’t control who will play the southland. We do have a common opponent to go by. Nicholls. How did that turn out if you want to compare? Just curious.
