Stupid Hypothetical Question:
So if the game is cancelled and LSU says "We ain't giving up a home game" and can't be made up, suppose LSU runs the table.

LSU's conference record would be 6-1.

Bama runs the table except losing to LSU.

Bama'a conference record would be 7-1.

Wouldn't Bama go to the Championship game?

There's no doubt that this game will be cancelled unless by the grace of God it's starts to deviate East. If it is cancelled Florida should have to forfeit and they should reimburse LSU for any tickets that were sold, any hotels that they couldn't cancel.

UF will then become public enemy #1 for ruining LSU's season.

But you see my point, OMR. If we don't get this game in, we have one of two choices:
#1: Give up a home game to travel to the Swamp, then play A&M 4 days later, but have a shot at the SECCG.
#2: Tell UF to pound sand, seasons over. Even if we run the table, we ain't going to Atlanta.

I don't know. How much damage did Baton Rouge have for Katrina?

well, less than 24 hours after the eye hit, the weather was seeing the lingering positions of the backside.
emergency response teams (police, firemen, medics, etc.) were still tied up and hadn't even been able to fully assess the damages yet (And this was BEFORE the levee failure). power was out in the entire area. lot of roads surrounding the area were impassable, and a curfew was still in effect.

but hey, it passed 70 miles away and Baton Rouge was on the "good" side.

Conference games are always made up. So we would have to play them the week before Bama if the game got canceled. I'm going to say LSU wouldn't let that happen. They'd play at some Florida HS before they canceled it.

What's probably going to happen is the game will be moved to Saturday night.

So you're saying Florida would have to play a doubleheader? Florida plays Georgia that day.

Florida should have lined up a neutral site by now. Shame on them, now they should be forced to play in BR if it's too late for a neutral venue.

We would both give up non conference games and get in the conference game.

You have to plan in advance, Florida should have a neutral site lined up by now, and everyone aware of where that is so they can make plans.

It's their obligation to find a suitable site for the game, not LSU's.

If they can't either the conference has to step in, or they should forfeit.

It's not rocket science.

So let me get this straight. You think LSU would give up a home game with a gate of 3-4 mil, just to go play a make-up game at the swamp?

It's not their obligation to let everyone know all the backup plans. You have no idea what's been planned and not.
