Same thing I said. If Brooks, McGlothern, and Gilbert stayed at LSU and had their head on straight to do so, all 3 would have left in the last 2 draft classes in the top 3 rounds.

If Bech is 3rd Team, that tells me TCU has some legit weapons at WR.

There’s a reason why Bech was a featured player on some of the worst LSU teams this millennium.

When LSU competes for titles, they have guys like Malik, JJ, Chase, OBJ, Jarvis, Reuben, Lafell, Early Doucet, Michael Clayton, etc.

Bech is nowhere close to that level.

If he's fully healthy, Briles might carve out a niche role for him because of his versatility. Good hands, good blocker, good possession receiver.
A good blocker can be the difference between a 7-yard gain and a TD on a running play. It doesn't get glorified or make headlines, so most are oblivious to it, but it's crucial to winning.

LSU also had Thaddeus Moss, Richard Dickson, Eric Edwards, and David Jones on those teams.

Charles Clay and Niles Paul made NFL careers out of niche H-back/TE/receiver roles. Look at how effective Taysom Hill is with the Saints in his niche role.

Of course you want explosive speed at WR. But you can also have guys like Bech with more versatile skill sets.

Bech had a better freshman year than all those players you named except for Clayton.
He had injury issues last year. So you can't really make a full determination relative to the careers of those other players.

I thought Deion Smith had a lot of potential

And we lost. That’s my point.

He can play, but you aren’t winning championships if he’s one of your top weapons.

He went down with an injury last year. Combined with flip flopping positions. Ironically, he’s playing the position our staff wanted him to play

Funny how you called him Walker Coward. Also, I know he never signed with LSU, but it would be interesting to know whatever happened to Sopsher…

Only one that really hurts is McGlothern.

According to the rant, Bech was the next coming of OBJ and would kill it at TCU.
I also remember the sky falling for some on Walker Howard.
Grass ain’t always greener.

Not really, he just had more opportunities. His freshman season was about equal to OBJ, YPC was significantly less than Jamar Chase and Malik Nabers. Nabers had 72 fewer yards (417 vs 489) on 15 fewer catches (28 vs 43) and 1 more touchdown (4 vs 3) than Bech. Chase had 313 yard receiving on 23 receptions with 3 TDs but only appeared in 10 games.

I didn't check on anyone but OBJ, Nabers, Chase, and Jarvis (Who only had 4 receptions his freshman year)

Bech got numbers on a bad team for sure. I don’t think he is a walk on or anything. But isn’t built to be the guy either

You can't put the lack of wins on any one player.
Although I know some on this board ignorantly try. Damone Clark was the main target for that in 2021 while he actually had a great year.

Bech had more catches, yards, and TDs than OBJ. And did more as a blocker.

More catches and yards than Nabers, and again, did more as a blocker.

That's a lot for a frosh to play two positions. He was good after catch too.

No one's saying he has to be the leading receiver on a team. But that doesn't mean he can't play a role and be very effective.
