Unfortunately, when you compare the raw numbers of what LSU does, and then adjust the numbers for SOS, it doesn't look any better. It's time to realize that Ensminger is not the guy to fix this offense, and if Orgeron can't find the right guy and let him do his job without meddling, then Orgeron isn't the right guy either.

Great job putting this info out in front of us.
But curious, why not include Jimbo’s entire tenure at LSU, or at least 2003 Champ season?

Yessir, I would love those years/numbers as well (2000 through 2003).

We are 112th in yards per play this year
129th in red zone TD%
129th in red zone TD%

Espn only goes back to 04.
From the looks of this thread though not many cared. E is apparently a ride or die hire so if the stats don't look like you want them to then just ignore them, right?
Honestly if it was a thread we could sticky and update every year I would manage it, but I doubt there's enough interest in that.
I posted another thread earlier today talking about how our kicker has more points than our QB even after giving all passing TD points by receivers to burrow. People couldn't even read one sentence before they started flaming that it was "normal". Sorry for the rant but the people on here just amaze me with their stupidity sometimes

I put up the S.O.S. by year in my stats.

Next to each year list the prominent skill players.
2018 IMHO has the worst group of TBs
QB about average
WRs below average
TE average but no numbers
Some may disagree, but last year the previous OC didn't use our current TBs or our current WRs.
None of these people played much for Canada. Now they play prominent roles and start. That tells me Canada didn't see much out of these guys even though most were not freshmen.

This offense sucks. It has sucked all year.

Total offense tell part of the story. Best indicator is YPP/Yards per play, points per, like to those numbers by total offense ranks for every year.
Edit: didn't scroll 3 pages. Good job

Don't plan on any championships with an offense outside the top 50 either.
I hadn't planned on any championships with Canada either.

You may want to read the rest of the thread.

So in most categories Orgeron is worse than Miles.
In scoring, the offensive stat that really matters, Ed has bettered only 2009 and 2002 this century.

Just trying to be objective here...
Is there any merit at all to the "one step back, two steps forward" theory. In other words, in order to make a significant improvement... Like consistently in the top thirty as opposed to where we usually are... You first have to go through a painful transition period where the stats are going to be a lot worse?
What do other programs who have successfully made a change like that go through?...who also have to face good defenses on a regular basis.

That's called a program rebuild.
And no, we aren't in one. Nor did we hire a coach that has proven "program building" experience, so leadership didn't think we were in a rebuild either.
Posted on 11/7/18 at 10:04 pm to Freauxzen
It's not a program rebuild but it is a fundamental offensive philosophy change. There's got to be a traditional period for that.
... And I don't believe Orgeron and Ensminger are the right pair up pull that off but I'm genuinely wondering what we should really expect even with perfect coaches.

Fair enough. Thanks for putting this together and getting this in front of us all.

I know it's unlikely to happen but I would love to hear a valid logical argument, based on solely offensive stats, as to why we should keep Ensminger as OC.
There is none.
It's either hold O & E accountable or blame the players.
The Bama game was game #9, the OL was healthy, and we had 2-weeks to prepare.

But O said hes the right man for the job!
