Would you rather play a team like Army or a team like Eastern Michigan, or maybe you'd rather play Furman or McNeese? All 4 of our OOC games aren't going to be against elite P5 programs. Playing a service academy is not a bad game to schedule. We already have FSU on our schedule in 2023 and have a big P5 team already scheduled every year through 2030.

2022 and 2023 are actually the only years through 2030 we don't have a big P5 team already scheduled.

You forgot about Florida St "home" and "home" games in the Superdome and Orlando.

WTF is wrong with LSUsports.net? Most of the links don't work and when you click on "schedules," you get page with ads on it.

You have a problem with giving the men that will defend our country a chance to play in a great stadium for risking their lives for you?
I think the poster is meaning strictly from a football perspective.

I'm fairly certain we all have immense respect for the Army players.

I really don't see the reason why folks are bitching about this.. imo, it's a pretty solid opponent that could possibly give LSU a game for a while. Now I don't expect final score to be close. But I expect an excited fanbase, (LSU and Army) great atmosphere, and a good game!

Indeed I did, so I guess every year through 2030 has been accounted for
2019: Texas
2020: Texas
2021: UCLA
2022: FSU
2023: FSU
2024: UCLA
2025: Clemson
2026: Clemson
2027: Oklahoma
2028: Oklahoma
2029: Arizona State
2030: Arizona State

There are a lot of things to complain about regarding the AD. Getting good OOC games is not one of them and hasn't been really ever. We do as good a job as anyone in the country scheduling good games OOC. Some of our fans just like to complain about literally anything and everything.

why, oh scheduling genius? They will not bring fans, they will not bring ratings and the win will not foster prestige.

Until schedules are mandated to be exclusively power 5 opponents, schools will have no choice but to fill gaps with one off games every year. So again, that pool of available teams is who should be considered here.

Of those teams, Army has obvious national appeal because you know, it the US Army.

They run an unconventional offense and are trending up currently.

It will be an incredible moment when over 90,000 Tiger fans stand as one and give a roaring wwelcome and heartfelt thank you from the Tiger Nation to the future defenders of our freedom as they enter the field. The Tigers will be playing Army that evening but the Black Knights will be representing all members of our military services who won't be there.

This can be a special night in Tiger Stadium history so if you want to be a jackas stay home.

No one is saying they'd rather play McNeese over Army. The issue people have is the wording in the statement making it sound like LSU is playing USC.

Is high profile the right wording?

true, but given our history of playing down to lesser opponents, academy teams could be a big threat if we don't take them seriously, they never have great athletes, and not much depth, but are very disciplined and never quit

It would be an incredible trip. Obviously, I’m a bit biased but a home game in October should be on the bucket list for every “serious” college football fan.

OU is playing Army in Michie Stadium this year.

You are correct . . . Highland Falls would never be the same after LSU fans invaded the town.
