Only time will tell but I think this will prove to be a great hire.
Agreed, this board is rarely happy with anything. When a retread is hired (McM) there's bitching that we should have picked a young gun up & coming. When some new blood is hired we should have gone with an old reliable candidate.
KW, while not having coached at this level, brings so many great qualities. Unless he burns out, which could happen with anyone, he should prove to have been the perfect choice.

Kevin Faulk might have done better in the NIL era, where you don't have to be a great recruiter .

I realize that Kyle has no experience coaching college ball, and I know that college and the NFL aren’t the same, but consider this expert from an article about NFL coaching hires over the last 10 years.
But many NFL owners are still inclined to search for The Next Sean McVay -- the rising young coach who could solidify the pivotal franchise role for a decade or more. In the seven cycles since the Rams hired McVay in 2017, nearly half of all head-coaching hires leaguewide (24 of 50, 48%) have come from the same demographic -- under age 45 with no previous NFL head-coaching experience -- including Brian Callahan (Titans), Dave Canales (Panthers), Mike Macdonald (Seahawks) and Jerod Mayo (Patriots) this past offseason. (A fifth, Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, had just turned 45 when he took over on an interim basis during the 2023 season.)
Since 2013, 49/72 head coaches hired were rookie head coaches with no NFL head coach experience. Of those, 3 were hired with ZERO NFL coaching experience.
So why do people assume that he will fail without college experience? Coaching is coaching, and the ones who have it, have it. Kyle Williams has it. If the NFL doesn’t have a problem hiring a HC with no experience, then I have no problem hiring a DL coach with no college experience. If the man can coach, that’s all that matters.
I’ve known Kyle for a long time. I’ve seen what he has helped build at Ruston. I’ve seen him coach and communicate with his players. I’ve seen him counsel them, coach them, and mentor them. He does a tremendous job building relationships. He’s as down to earth as they come. He will be very successful in everything he decides to do in life because of his work ethic.
So let’s pumped the brakes on the fact that he’s going to suck because he doesn’t have experience, and just see how it plays out. BK isn’t in the business of trying to get worse, he’s trying to get better.

This should go much better than the Kevin Faulk hire did.
He brings both a solid performance in the ultra competitive NFL to the table, along with coaching experience.
I think he will become a very good recruiter for the team.

Not sure anyone is saying that. But brakes should be pumped considering he has no college coaching experience. Which is risky at this level.

Jonboy I don`t think you want him to succeed because the way you
wrote that tells me you hate BK.

The owner of my old company shared a duck lease with him. Right around when he was retiring.
Nothing but insanely positive things to say about him as a dude.
I am rooting for him. At worst, he is an out of his depth coaching but is a great locker room guy and we maybe looking for a DL coach again which is nothing new. At best, I think the ceiling is high
I am not betting against him.

This. Kyle is a winner. Period.

I can’t fathom him being out of his depth coaching. However, I can see somebody with his grit, value and work ethic getting real frustrated having to deal with this entitled generation of student athletes. That shite was too much for Saban to deal with.

A couple of things separates KW and RS! Both never coached in CFB. One on the other hand is a 6 time Pro-Bowl selection, spent 13 years in the league at one of the toughest positions, and is born and bred in Louisiana and has coached in the HS football ranks in this state. If I were a betting man I’d take KW to succeed over RS any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

He was a part of the recruiting process and was recruited by a few schools. Oh, he was also recruited by the best to ever do it, so I’m sure he has some insight on how to recruit.

The Advocate reports that LSU finalized a three-year contract that will make him among the highest-paid defensive line coaches in college football. Williams will make $700,000 this year, $775,000 next year and $850,000 in the final year of the contract, which ends after the 2027 season.
I’m rooting for the guy, and don’t mind hiring the up and comers, but why does LSU do this? No college coaching experience. Yet highest paid DL coach. Is it Woodward?
