I don’t think we can catch TN since they play in such small park. We will likely end up middle of the pack though once the winds shift.

I like that we seem to be more balanced and don’t need to rely on the hr. I’d like us to get back to the 23 mentality of digging in the box up on the plate and not moving other than maybe jones and Dickinson

That plus the wind has been blowing in almost every game at the box. The ball doesn’t travel for shite in cold humid games in Feb at the box especially with wind blowing in.

We just don’t have power hitters on this team.. I don’t get why everyone is just trying to find a reason why we aren’t hitting HR’s. Jones is the only steady guy in the lineup who is capable of 20+ hr in a season. We don’t have many behind him who are really capable of 15+ either. It’s a big change from 2 years ago when you had almost all of your lineup capable of double digit homers with multiple guys who had that 20+ potential.

We are going to have to win a different way this year and that’s ok.

And yet, after today we'll be #1 in the rankings. Scoring 11-12 runs a game without a ton of homers sure is fun.

Not surprised. I know what their LSU profiles have them listed as, but this team looks really small to me. Hopefully the batting averages make up for any lack of power.

We'll see how things change as the season progresses, the weather warms, the games are in SEC parks, etc. The Tigers don't have to lead the conference in home runs, but they darn sure can't finish last, either if they plan on winning the SEC.

This plays better in Omaha anyway. I’ll take more hits and less emphasis on the deep ball.

If they have the same ba as some of Paul’s teams then he would catch some for it.

I recall a few of the later teams having like 225 ba deep into the season

I like it if we can keep pressure on and score runs don’t care how it happens.

These people think the mlb 2 option approach of homer or strike out works in college.

You definitely have to be able to hit HRs.

Pretty great that their offense is producing so well without hr production. To be putting up the runs they are putting up and at the same time the biggest critique being runners left on base, get that ironed out and it could be something special.

I'd prefer to be balanced. LSU and other teams proved that balls fly out of the park in Omaha, too. There will be games this season when the Tigers will have to run into two or three to win, because SEC pitching is much better than what they've faced thus far. Stringing together hits to score a lot of runs will be much tougher.

Like I said, they don't have to lead the SEC in Homer's, but they can't finish at the bottom. They have to find more balance.

I didn’t say we didn’t need to hit them.

I still think this team can and will end up just fine in home run total. We have had a lot of near misses in some really not great weather.

Jones can get 20
Dickinson can probably get 15
I think we have a host of others that can get 10.

I’m just not panicked that we are dead last right now.

Yes it seems like most LSU teams has had to rely on the HR ball to score most of their runs recently. It’s nice to actually have a team that can score numerous runs by just producing base hits.

Don't think we're gonna finish last, so middle of the pack would be great

I did not think that we would lack this much pop this early but from looking at the lineup, who is it supposed to be coming from?

Jones is playing really well and his HRs will come, but aside from Dickinson perhaps, I don't know who else is supposed to be infusing power into the lineup. Maybe Hernandez? I think he hit close to 20 last year.

Idk what you are looking at but Milam is the only “small” guy I see on this LSU team. And even he has some good power. Yea I will say Curiel needs to add a little muscle but he’s such a great hitter already. Braswell is a twig too but other than that go stand beside most of those dudes on this team and you’ll see that they aren’t so small.

I think Milam and Curiel will end up with more HRs than most people think.
