She already has a degree from Michigan.

Also, she's an Olympic gold medalist who is comfortable with that particular coach and expects to be competing internationally at a very high level for the next decade-plus.

The fastest LSU men's 100 yd butterfly time from last year was :49.2. Maggie's Olympic 100 meter fly time converts to :48.9 in yards!

The athletic department needs to support this sport more. It’s amazing that the coach has been able to recruit a national champion and an olympic medalist with the worst facilities in the conference. If we can build a new tennis center for a sport that has nothing to show for it, we can build a new facility for swimming.

What’s the backstory? This seems like a terrible decision

She was going to transfer to Cal, but the news with coach McKeever and her on leave changed her decision. The Bears area Top 5 national program, but it was too much, so she went back to her old coach for her Covid year of eligibility. Talking to Gary Hall Sr., he was stunned by the decision. He lives in San Diego and works with her on occasion and was hoping to continue that, but this ended that. She will come here for one year and then go pro focusing on the Olympics 2024.

Not just the worst facilities in the conference, but there are dozens of high-school in Texas with better natatoriums. Also the funding for the current facility I believe came from the National Sports Festival decades ago.

LSU mens tennis

3 SEC titles
19 sweet 16s
10 elite 8s
4 final fours

Want to rethink that a little bit?

Swimmers don’t care about facilities as much as some other sports might, as long as you can breathe in the pool area it’s fine
