Different situations.

LSU has an obligation to protect their program, and that requires open and honest communication with their coach, who is their employee. Will Wade's legal issues, whatever they may be, don't change that fact for LSU.

LSU is not penalizing WW. However, they are clear that part of being an employee is open and honest communication, and if that can't happen, then the employment relationship must be put on hold.

Again, I go back to... this is 100 percent WW's fault for being stupid and talking on the phone about "strong offers".

They are not the same, and no matter how much you and others want it to be the same, it's not.

If you think anything Wade says to the LSU administration, with or without NCAA representatives present, will be "private" for more than 5 minutes after the meeting, you're delusional.

The NCAA rep is not his employer.

Remember he was going to meet with his employer until his employer canceled the meeting and rescheduled the meeting with his employer AND a non-LSU employee.

Unless WW has something in his contract that prevents this from happening, tough titties. An employer has every right to have whomever they want in that room.

He can. He's choosing not to.

There is a difference.

Actions have consequences.

He didn’t refuse to talk to LSU. He declined to talk to LSU AND the NCAA without limiting the scope of questions because:
1) Doing so may not be in LSU’s best interest and
2) There are some questions he may not be able to answer until after his testimony.

LSU should have interviewed Wade without the NCAA present first for their own sake. They could then schedule another interview with the NCAA after they’ve spoken to Wade and conducted their own investigation. They didn’t have to press for the combined meeting right now.

That's 100 percent exactly what a suspension with pay does.

When a police officer shoots a suspect, what's the first thing that happens? He gets assigned to desk duty. Doesn't matter the circumstances. While of desk duty, he can't carry his gun and can't do details. When the investigation is concluded, assuming he's not in trouble, he goes back to his regular duty.

No different than what is happening here.

At this point, FIRING him would be a rash decision.

If he doesn't trust his employer, then he probably should find another employer.

You seem to be insinuating the administration has handled this well. They haven't.

Even if you want to blame Wade, there is no reason this had to be addressed so publicly and immediately. Wade did whatever he did, but LSU admin unnecessarily forced his very predictable hand.

Oh, I don’t know. It might have something to do with the fact that they didn’t do the same for Will Wade.

So WW, basketball coach, now knows what's in LSU's best interest after less than 2 years here, than the university? Come on man. The only thing WW is worried about is WW's best interest. Not that I blame him.

Again, he may be called as a witness. He is under no gag order or restriction. he is not under investigation. he has not been charged with anything. He can say whatever he wants. this is not a deposition, he's not being sworn. Hell, he can meet with JA and the NCAA and lie his arse off. He may choose not to. His attorney may advise against it. But it's his choice. And, actions have consequences.

They can still say we’ve gathered all the facts available to us and with the information abalible to us at present we’ve found no wrongdoing and have to wait until after the FBI has finished its case. If that changes we will take action but until then we are going to reinstate Wade and Smart. They want Wade To issue a denile for the media’s sake and that’s pathetic.
