Oh theres no doubt he has had a great spring. Been very impressive. Already has great size for a CB.

But I dont see him taking reps away from RR and White. He might get the occasional series or 2. But Tre White and RR are our top 2 CBs, and I dont think its that close. Plus, Jalen Collins is still there and hes had a great spring as well.

And Tre White is def considered a starter. He was a starter last year for the last 7 games or so. RR would be a starter as well, but has grade issues / rumors.

Theres no doubt Paris has looked good and will get some PT this coming up year. But he wont be taking PT away from RR and Tre White. He might get the occasional series, but Tre White and RR are our top 2 CBs. Really excited about Paris though. Hes gonna be a stud.

Louis was #23 in a green jersey and played outside for the white team. Beckwith played middle for the purple team. There is a good highlight video in the stickied thread if you need to re-watch.

Feist also played MLB, with Beckwith at OLB

For some reason I thought Welter was gone after last year. FML!

Talking about Paris, what really impressed me was his effort and intensity on every play. When the ball goes to the other side of the field, he sprints at the right angle as fast as he can. He just gets it IMO, from watching one glorified practice. He'll get on the field somewhere. Future looks blindingly bright at corner.

I see these guys starting:
Kwon
K.Beckwith
Louis - I could see Debo starting over Louis. But I am just going with what we've heard so far.

But, But, These guys: - Will be apart of the rotation and get about 40% of the snaps.
Debo
Welter
Feist

Remember Chavis also likes to have a LB group that plays, not 3 starters that are great but eventually get tired and play like average LB's, even with some substitutes.

I think there are several other LB's that will see the field, behind those 6.

In my humble opinion...

Welter may very well be the worst linebacker I have ever seen wear an LSU uniform.

Welter will start and he'll be better than last year. Beckwith will still see the field a good bit though. I don't see us starting Kwon and Debo at the same time, I just think Chavis would like to get a little more size on the field and that's why I think Louis starts. This is the best LB depth we've had in quite some time though and I think our recruiting at the position has gotten much better over the last 3 years. CG will take a while to get on the field, but once he does he's going to be lights out good (think Kevin Minter's career trajectory).

You sure about that? I just finished watching the 1st half of the spring game and all I saw was more of the same type of play.

Minter was on the field a lot with Ego and Freak. He didnt seem to have a problem playing at a high level with them. Barrow and Kwon played with the same DL that Welter did. They did ok. I know MLB and SLB, WLB are diff, but they were still able to play good. If our DL was that bad, they would struggle too.

Did Anthony Johnson live up to the hype that he had coming in? No. Was he still a solid SEC DT? Yes. Same with Ego. They were solid SEC players. Elite? No. But solid.

Oh and I wouldnt say that our DTs got blown off the ball. At all. Ranked 3rd in the SEC against the run. And we lost our top 2 DTs. DT is the position on D that everyone is worried about due to the inexperenced players we have coming in. Hearing good things about them, but practice and playing in a game is completely diff.

Is Welter as horrible as everyone makes him out to be? No. But hes not a good player by any means. He was our weakest link last year and will be this year. And I dont see how anyone thinks he will improve. He was in his 4th season last year, and going into his 5th year. He wont be getting any better. And we have some young guys waiting in the wings that are very promising players and could turn into big time players.

Jones was a great player at Jesuit, and I agree that he has ability. The problem is that he is a little over six feet and a tad under 210; that is small to be an every down backer in the SEC. It's just like some great college players that just can't compete physically in the pros due to a lack of size.

Debo is 6'2. And will gain weight this offseason. Already looks like he has. He will be up to 215lbs. Look at LaVonte David for the Bucs. He was 6'1 215lbs - 225lbs in college. And is 1 of the best LBs in the game now.

If you can play, size doesnt matter. Debo can play. Speed kills, and Debo def has the speed and is a viscous hitter. Gonna blow up this year.

Not trying to be rude, but some of you people here are way too sensitive. Welter shouldn't even start for Vanderbilt or Kentucky. Just go watch some game film. He gets blocked, can't take on blockers, fails to keep his outside arm free, has below average lateral speed. Couldn't cover a jock strap. I could go on an on.

but if he is the best we have and beats out beckwith and Fiest then he's who we have to go with. Would rather play the best player we have at a position than some one who is even worse no matter how bad a rap the kid has on the internet.
