Jarvis Landry will run the 40 tomorrow in front of NFL scouts. I would be pleasantly surprised for him if he were to run a sub 4.5. Your information says Welter did that in high school, which means that information about his height and weight is bullshot. As is your determination that he is now 6'2 235. Do you think he is an above average football player?

"Senior middle linebacker D.J. Welter apparently left a major impression on his coaches this spring as well. Not only was he among the defense’s honorees in awards for leadership and for outstanding performance, but he was the lone winner of the Jimmy Taylor Award, the team’s comprehensive spring award for outstanding leadership, effort and performance."

I saw that. We know the coaches like him. I'm trying to figure out why.

Oh Lester... im flattered that you stalk me on here.

I was more off on OBJs weight than height though.

But, after the UF game last season, I was walking through campus leaving a tailgate. Welter was 1 of the players getting out the locker room. So was Debo. They walked out together. It was easy to see that Debo was taller by at least an inch.

But that was during the middle of the season, Im sure his playing weight is lighter than when he weighs in at. Maybe hes packed on 15lbs since then. Who knows? But his height is off. He and Debo are listed at the same height. Yet it was easy to see Debo was taller. So either Debo is taller than listed, or Welter is shorter than listed.

And Ive also read a recent article that had Welter at 6'0 226lbs. Written in mid march.

Just watched the spring game clip. Feist, Beckwith, and Debo all stood out making plays. Is Welter REALLY going to play over all these guys?? We finally have depth and athleticism at the lb spot fa sho

how hard is it to understand? Its his consistency...slow as he was...he was where he needed to be(intitially)..he didnt frik up hugely...u give up 5 yards when u should give up 1 you give up ten when u should give up 4... he didnt miss assignments. but he was slow getting there...so they felt that, plus his knowing where to line people up...over all is better than a fast linebacker who makes plays sometimes..... highlights even. But isnt consistent and could miss an assignment...and cant line people up after audibles...overall.////////less risk...You guys act like they are evaluating talent and they either cant do it right or we just are waiting for him to explode----hes freaking football slow. period..

Since they want Welter on the field so badly, should we do some 3-4 and have Beckwith out there with him? We already have the Mustang with 6 DBs, so lets add in some 3-4 to get one more athlete in the middle.

Fiest in the middle this year, or like someone said, run a 3-4 to give Welter some help in the middle. Feist, Kwon, and Debo would be as formidable a LB trio as we have had in a long time. Substitute in Beckwith, Louis, along with the freshman Clifton Garret and we have some solid depth. But if Welter can beat out those guys, more power to him. Maybe he has improved that much since last season.
