I think both points are valid: pitching has been a problem AND lack of power has disadvantaged as well. But imho pitching has hurt more than the lack of extra base hits.
And as "flawed" as all of this seems to be, this team has a puncher's chance to be a top-8 seed.
Can you imagine how shitty all the other teams in the nation, save for the 7-8 above us, must be?

The girls beat UCLA, who finished second in the big 10; spanked Virginia tech, who finished second in the ACC; and we would have drilled everyone in the big 12 minus Texas tech.
I really think the girls have a great shot at OKC depending on the Super Regional draw.

I tell you what watching Oklahoma Arkansas game right now once you get past Sam Landry Oklahoma struggles for pitching

LOL!!! Exactly.

So they lost 6 games where they scored 5+ runs but that’s still on hitting because the ball didn’t go over the fence? amazing
It’s a huge issue against elite pitching and tight games.

Give credit to Arkansas. They have been playing like a top 3 team the last month or so.

I said power bats. I think we are 2nd to last in SEC in HR's behind only S. Carolina that has 1 less.
I get that, but it didn’t stop them from finishing 3rd in runs scored. They didn’t lose games because they weren’t scoring runs. They lost games by scores of 12-9, 12-7, 9-7, 14-4, 8-5, 6-5, 11-3, and 7-3. That’s 8 of their 12 losses squarely on the pitching/defense. They lost 5-3 to SC when Berzon blew the lead in the 7th. They lost 6-0 to Arkansas when they played poorly all around. That leaves only two 4-1 losses that can be blamed on the offense.

LSU never lost a game when they gave up fewer than 4 runs. They gave up 6+ in 10 of 14 losses. Including the tournament, they had three 4-1 losses. Those are the only ones where you might argue a lack of power cost them. Overall, they weren’t losing close low scoring games.

Dismissing bats in higher scoring games and blame pitching is lazy. Those games happen too and bats are needed. We have a power bat deficiency and it’s a huge reason why we aren’t true world series contenders

I think there is a very good chance it will be another SEC team. We are going to be seeded somewhere from 7-10. That puts us in a group that also includes South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

2 back to back hr’s for Sooners making a comeback when Arkansas had magical 6 runs

Agree and my guess is the hitting guy recognizes that and is trying to recruit that but it will take time. Their 2026 class is all bigger kids like 5-8 to 5-11 except 1.. bigger, stronger kids is what we need. Laneaux, Hodge, Redoutey are all thin and not a lot of power, Edwards and Bergeron are bigger hence more home runs. Having said all that the offense was good enough to win 4-5 more SEC games if Berzon was her old self.

There’s more than one way to score runs. Oklahoma did it by leading the league in HR. LSU did it with BA and speed. In conference play, both scored 7+ runs 9 times, 5-6 runs 5 times, 3-4 runs 5 times, and 0-2 runs 5 times. The difference in their record was not total runs (which LSU led) or distribution of runs scored (which was the same).

Really good breakdown thank you

Bottom 2 in sec w power. They are not bottom 2 in pitching.

What matters is runs scored, not how you scored them. LSU was 3rd in conference play in run scored. They were 12th in runs allowed/7 IP.

Chad it’s run scored that matter right? Texas A&M going in to tonight has 10 more home runs than LSU, would you say scoring is a problem?

No

It’s not ? How do you win? LSU had the lead in the 6th inning vs Texas in every game and lost 2 of them…pitching or hitting cost them?
