First, I would like to congratulate this team on a pretty incredible season. We played one of the toughest schedules in the country. Out of conference schedule was challenging as well as playing in the most dominant conference in the country. Torina and the staff did a tremendous job. We lost only one senior starter and bring in a top ten class this coming fall.

Accomplishments:
-First #1 Ranking in school history
-First time hosting a super regional
- Highest batting avg, slugging and on base percentage in school history.
-#2 in RPI
-Made it to the college World Series
- Made the final four of the College World Series
- Won over 50 Games

We saw significant improvement at the plate from a lot of individuals. Home runs, and doubles, and rpis all increased.

Offensive Play of the Year- Bell had better numbers but when you look at everything as a whole, Bailey Landry was the most consistent hitter the entire year. She brought a different dimension to this offense, showcasing power, speed, and a short game.

Pitcher of the year- Carley Hoover as a freshman was one of the most dominant pitchers in the country. She led this team through a brutal schedule this post season.

Defensive Player of the Year- AJ Andrews, the senior was phenomenal in the outfield. We will miss her speed and athleticism.

Grades:
Offense- B+ or A-At times we were dominant and almost seemed unstoppable, but we were lost and inconsistent at times at the plate.

Pitching- A
Under Torina pitching will always be strong but to be so dominant with two freshman leading the pack is beyond impressive. Expect even better numbers next season.

Defense- D
I might be too generous....
Errors and mental mistakes plagued this team ALL season. Its really inexcusable.

Biggest Disappointment- The junior leader disappeared immediately in post season play. Her defense and decision making was mind boggling and hurt us at times. Her bat which makes her known on a national level was a huge disappointment. She became non existent. She struggled to get the ball out the infield.

Concerns going Forward-
Defense Defense Defense
The left side of the infield has to be a concern going forward. Jaquish is very inconsistent at 3rd. Bianka Bell playing SS has to be re evaluated this off season. She is very slow to the ball and has way too many mental lapses. Sydney Bourg will also be re evaluated, she is very solid defensively but lacks offensive consistency. Finding Andrews replacement will be another challenge.

Solution- Kloss catches and Simmons is a natural 1Baseman, The nice part about Jaquish is she has a good arm. With the talent we have coming in, it will be difficult finding a way to have all the talent at the field at one time

Incoming Freshman to Look For
Shemiah Sanchez- Highly recruited SS out of Georgia, she is athletic and solid defensively. She hit over 15 HR's and 14 2B's her Senior Year. She will hit over .300 her Freshman year and about 8-12 HR's. She will be challenging spots on the infield as well as DH. She will make an IMMEDIATE impact next year offensively.

Amber Serrett- Probably will be the best defensive player on our team next year. From the Woodlands area, she was an All American SS who has a strong arm and a very good bat. She is phenomenal offensively as well. Definitely watch her closely, she will most likely be starting by some point next year.

Sydney Smith- Pitcher out of Minnesota- Gatorade Pitcher of the Year- She will be given opportunities immediately. Very highly recruited prospect. Will add depth

Taylor Satchell- Utility player that is athletic. She can play in the infield but could play OF. She brings a very good bat.

Next season we will be ranked in the top 8. Next year will be the year we should bring it home, itll be our best opportunity of any.
Thanks for all the support everyone!

What about moving Savannah into the 1b/c role, Bell to 2nd, Amber to SS, and Shemiah or Sandra to 3rd? The infield is below average defensively and these changes might help

Also liked the idea UM had of the tennis ball machine to strengthen the batters eye. Hope we use that as well. Overall great season and picked up the experience to make our run next season.

Nicely done. I like your suggestion about Bell being the DH.

Yeah, Simmons is great at first base, though i guess it could happen with a big class coming in.

Bell just overthinks everything, and you can see it in her expressions.

She was not good this postseason, but she was our best player for most of the season. Hopefully next year things will be different.

They share the catcher position but Kloss gets more starts there. I'm just trying to find some way to fix the middle to left infield tbh. Maybe Savannah will improve defensively at 3rd base during the offseason.

I get it man, I just don't think there is any way Torina sits down either of the seniors at C/1B next year barring injury

Jaquish isn't even that bad at third, so it'd be an improvement moving Bell to DH.

Jaquish is really average at third. We do have a very good third baseman on the bench (Jenna Kramer). Jaquish needs to accept her role as DP or move on. The rest of the infield is just fine the way it is. May need to love B Landry to CF to replace AJ.

Kloss is a MUCH better catcher than Jaquish. Just sayin.

Who was their ace last year. I don't think she was a senior and I'm wondering what became of her.

We made a few errors... Mostly at second before Connie was benched and at third with Savannah. Made the change at second ... Time to make the change at third. If savannah wants to transfer... Let her go if she gets pissed. She is the sore thumb with all of her teammates anyway.

Kloss & Savannah will rotate C. Sandra will not move from 1B to 3B. She is a lefty. I highly doubt Bell moves from SS, but if she does it would be to 2B IMO to make way for a freshman at SS. It could happen, just look at UM and Romero. That said, I doubt it does. The 3 freshmen listed have the best chance to play the field. I think all 3 can play SS/2B. I do not know if any have logged time at 3B. Satchell is the only one I have read that has played OF. Mendoza said it best today "Hit and they'll find a place for you". One of the biggest issues IMO is the bench players we have simply do not hit the ball well for long periods of time. That has to improve, and should with the 3 fielders mentioned above. I believe at some point all 3 will start next year. They really are 3 tremendously talented young women.

Yeah, that's usually what puts them on the bench. frick!!!!!!!!!! Who the hell just has random .350 hitters in constant reserve roles?

Kraemer isn't light years better than Jaquish, while she has had her moments she has been fine. Jaquish is a thousand times better at the plate than Kramer. I would like to move Bell to 2nd and have Serrett or Sanchez take over SS. I don't see Torina benching Bell at all, she will be on the field somewhere. Maybe we can have Bell at 2nd, Serrett at SS, have Sanchez DH, move Landry to center, and work with Satchell in the outfield. Yes lockwood and thymes will have opportunities as well

"Yeah, that's usually what puts them on the bench. frick!!!!!!!!!! Who the hell just has random .350 hitters in constant reserve roles?"

No one is asking for .350 bench hitters. I'd take 1 or 2 .300 spot hitters.

"Kraemer isn't light years better than Jaquish, while she has had her moments she has been fine. Jaquish is a thousand times better at the plate than Kramer. I think the infield might move around a bit during the season. I think all 3 of these freshman can play the OF simply due to being really good athletes. I thought I read somewhere that Satchell has played OF a bit though. As for 3B, I don't think Kreamer is light years ahead of anyone. If she was, she'd be starting as Wray was last year. You need your best glove & fastest hands there. Maybe Savannah is the best INF glove from the options we have, but I think that changes next year.

As for Lockwood & Thymes in the OF, I don't think either can throw with the incoming freshman. They're probably faster, but I don't think either of the 3 freshman you've mention are slow. They aren't slapper fast, but could cover RF/LF IMO at this level.

I think that is one of the best things about Beth and this staff though. You will be given the opportunity. The key is what do you do with it.
