Same reason men cheat on their wives sometimes. Bad decision making.

Exactly.

Tape a quote from this to CSE's preferred film room, and then put a sign under that says "PROVE IT!" in big purple letters.

Text him every day with the same two words also.

I love contrasting this argument with what has taken place at LSU in the past (and present). People get their allegiances and there is often limited time to be proven wrong.

Bottom line is backup QBs tend to be popular.

Still think burrow is a good player and happy to have him. Just would use caution using fan perception that’s all.

The biggest advantage to getting Burrow on board, he hasn't been coached by our offensive staff.

He's been developed for three years by coaches with a proven track record of developing quality QBs. Not the disaster that has been LSU QB development

So that's one positive for sure

The best man from my wedding is a big Ohio State fan. Here's what he said about Burrow when I said how excited I was about the news, "Tap the brakes on Burrow. He's from a really small high school where he put up great numbers in high school. Ohio isn't really known as a great football state like FL, LA, TX, CA so being the Gatorade player of the year doesn't really mean that much. Didn't you all sign a Louisiana player of the year at QB a couple of years ago who's now at Mizzou? I wish him the best but we're not taking it as a big loss."

There may be some sour grapes but I thought the comparison to Lindsay Scott was an interesting take. I bet there is a portion of their fanbase at Mizzou that thinks he'll replace Drew Lock seamlessly and we didn't take his leaving as a big loss.

That said, I hope he leads us to the championship and we beat OSU again.

Your friend is an idiot. I watched every game Burrow played in high school. In most games he didn’t play after halftime. He could have doubled his totals if he played better teams. Sure some of his games were against weak opponents but during the state championship game he set records for yards and touchdowns. He had zero talent around him and still took a much better catholic school to the wire. In every playoff game his team was out manned at every position except quarterback. Burrow is going to be amazing and you are lucky to have him.

For the record after the Buckeye spring game 2 different Buckeye web sites ran polls for who should start. They were both identical 60% Burrow 30% Haskins and 10% Martell.

What this Ohio fan saw was a QB (Joe) who had the better command, better decision making, and better leadership, what he saw was a QB getting beat all camp by Burrow yet still was given the no.1 nod, what he saw was favoritism by Urban Meyer, LSU got Ohio St's best QB.
Statistically, Burrow was best, and he was best by a substantial margin.

Urban was trying to string them both along by not naming a starter in an effort to keep them both. He did the same thing with Barrett and Jones after the national championship. So Joe Burrow was not a failed quarterback looking to run away. He knows how good he is and wants a chance to prove it. He gave Urban a chance to name him the starter and when he didn’t he had no choice but to find a place that would. Urban wouldn’t make a decision so Burrow made it for him. Burrow was a Tom Herman recruit. Haskins was an Urban Meyer recruit that he personally flipped from Maryland. Tom Herman is gone and the entire offensive staff is different now. I don’t think he could trust the current staff with his career.

Thanks Buckeye fan for informing everyone how this all transpired, and how valuable a talent Burrow is as a QB.

I must commend your school on the quality of QB’s you are constantly able to recruit. Your 1st string, 2nd string and 3rd string QB’s all appear as good as any in the SEC, I find that absolutely incredible. Proud to have this former Buckeye with the Tigers

All true.
But the fact remains that Burrow was statistically better than Haskins....by a margin.

Put another way, given a choice between Haskins and Burrow based on film, most here would grab Burrow in a heartbeat. He simply appears to be the better QB.

Regardless of ability, we will see how well he fits into LSU's system the next several months. Glad to have him join the competition.
