Now, where this could all become inflamed again is if the 2 players sue the SEC. Then there is a major risk of a shite show and LSU could end up in a bad position for things you referenced.

These two players suing is not a representation of LSU, it would be deemed more of a civil rights issue. I do not see the SEC lightening up on us for any reason, due to the hatred of Kiffin.

This is it. This commissioner allowed the Big10 to lap us after decades of dominance.

It's not about the merits of their suit or cause of action but what could be revealed during the discovery in the litigation that could hurt LSU.

You're dancing around the issue of these players being on LSU's roster.

And you're dancing around the issue of whether LSU actually threatened to put them on the roster after the SEC clarified its rules on this matter.

You're dancing around the issue of whether it's possible for LSU to drop something that the SEC initiated (lawsuit, potential expulsion from the conference).

These guys were not on LSU's roster. That's the only fact that matters. LSU explored the possibility of adding them to their roster, and chose not to.

Even one the player's own agent said that LSU did everything right by his client.

If there was a scenario where LSU may roster them, then there was conflict between LSU and the SEC.

Interesting. So, you are saying that in any situation where a school may do something that is against the rules, they are in conflict with the SEC? That sounds a little ridiculous.

Conflict occurs when something happens. The SEC was acting as if something had happened, but you can't seem to articulate it other than saying LSU "threatened" to do something wrong (but you also can't produce the statement where LSU did this).

It also seems like LSU's President called Greg Sankey on Friday and told the SEC they were not going to put those players on the roster. Sounds like LSU did what it said it would do - follow the SEC rules.

Without binding themselves to that stance, the threat was always there.

The threat clearly matters.

No. This was not "any situation".

LSU engaged in unprecedented behavior (a college school recruiting players in the middle of NFL training camps to come back to school).

LSU doesn't get to just pretend these kids ended up on LSU's campus organically and independently. This is the "dancing around the issues of these players being on LSU's roster" in another form.

quote:

The SEC was acting as if something had happened,

Something likely did happen but the SEC doesn't have full proof yet, but seems willing to drop it (some reports disagree on this, as some are reporting some in the SEC still want punishments for Kiffin/LSU)

quote:

It also seems like LSU's President called Greg Sankey on Friday and told the SEC they were not going to put those players on the roster.

Those words are not binding, especially from a party dancing around the issue and trying to be cute about these players' statuses and relationship to LSU football.

You are potentially assuming Kiffin steered them into suing the NCAA. Would you agree that would be heresay at this point? What would happen to your insinuation if they did get on the stand and testified that Kiffin did NOT do such?

Not just that. There are potential communications with the players while they were in NFL training camp by agents of LSU/Kiffin. Promises, plans, agreements, etc. with ineligible players.

If they have a copy of the texts, phone logs, messenger logs, etc, no.

If they testified in this way when the SEC has a text proving them wrong, that creates a whole nother set of issues (not for the SEC)
