the only folks who make "deals" are the conferences, the individual bowls and, if applicable, the broadcast partner.
Further, you want to restrict LSU to same crap every time we don't make the playoffs, perhaps depriving the players the opportunity to go to a nicer location?

I completely agree. Obviously playoff is the goal but that would be excellent option for a less than stellar year. And bring in good power 4 opponent. Win win.
