Tiger Droppings has its own page with head-to-heat history. Which is what I used in identifying our four most traditional SEC rivals.

Would rather play Ole Miss, Arky, and A&M each year than Bama, Florida, and Auburn.

Amen brother… I think we lucked out big time for once.

If proximity were important, Tuscaloosa is closer to Baton Rouge than Fayetteville and College Station.

Bama was always going to get UT and Auburn and they've played MSU, which is like an hour from Tuscaloosa, over 100 times.

We were never getting Bama. And it actually makes sense we didn't.

Then go follow an acc team. We want good home games. Arky and A&M are not.

Go look at schedules from most of our history, we were very SWC leaning. Most years we would have three game combinations of Rice, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and TCU along with fairly long series against Texas and Arkansas in the eraly 1900's. It is what it is.

Last I checked, Alabama borders both Florida and Georgia. Has that changed?

3 permanent games
6 rotating games with remaining 12 opponents.

We will still play everyone twice every 4 years, right?

Next to over expansion, the real problem is going to a 9 game SEC schedule. I'm not sure why we did that. We've upset traditional schedules to beat the hell out of each other.

If you don't see how those three give us a better chance of getting to the playoffs, then I don't know what to tell you... From a historical standpoint, and if I was a casual fan, then sure...let's play Bama, UF and Auburn. But that's not how this works anymore.

Not to mention in the modern NIL Transfer portal world where depth is hard to come by, yeah the easier path is better even if it isn’t as sexy as our old games. Kinda sucks but that’s reality.

Isn't this what we wanted? To stop playing the same SEC schools that "Birmingham" cheats for?

Ole Miss is a no brainer in my opinion and i use to love Arkanasas rivalry. The only one I dislike is TAMU. They desperately want LSU to be their rival and it's really weird. I was kinda hoping we'd get Oklahoma if possible but makes sense we don't. I would've took Oklahoma, Miss State, Bama, Auburn, or Florida over TAMU. I really do not like the supposed TAMU rivalry. Nobody wants to deal with that weird school.

I hated conference expansion when it happened and look at the results Two of LSU's permanent opponents aren't SEC schools

LMFAO this is a stupid thing to melt about. A&M was always one of the teams that was going to remain in our schedule. Same with Ole Miss. Now Arky I don't like that we have to play them every year because they swear up and down that we are their biggest rivals and they just seem like a red-headed step child to me.

But I get the reason behind it and honestly the teams are pretty fairly distributed. Not to mention in four years they are going to re-evaluate the permanent opponents. We play every team in the conference home and away every four years. Thats pretty damn good. Especially considering back to when it was 12 teams and split sides we played every team in the conference every 5 years. Not even home and away just play once. So I like the setup.

Wait.. so tRant is mad that we don’t have stronger permanent opponents while also being mad that we have to play a tougher 9-game SEC schedule? Never change, Tiger fans.

Help me understand how that helps the team get to the playoffs?

Winning exciting games against top ranked teams in electric atmospheres builds your resume for the playoffs much better than winning rent-a-win games. Beating Alabama, or even losing a close game will help give your team the benefit of the doubt if they’re on the bubble.

To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best.

All good man.

And the playoff is going to at least 16 teams next year (maybe more) so if you can hold serve at 9-3 you are in the playoff.
