Didn't we wait until after NSD to hire Cameron?

Agreed. I don't think they will wait that long.

Who is the better recruiter? Haley or Coach O?

Is this a serious question?

Yes, unfortunately. I thought I heard Haley pulled in some big fish.

Yeah but it was a different scenario and in that case anyone we hired was gonna be an improvement over what we had. I fully expect them to make this hire fast to stabilize the situation with recruits.

Swapping brick for Bebe might hurt a little short term but would greatly benefit us beyond that. Knowing coach O he'll be fired up and come in full force and possibly flip a few for us.

Haley does ok...being at LSU doesn't hurt

Coach O was pulling in big fish at Ole Miss...much harder and much more impressive.

What evidence has anyone given that says Steele is a candidate?

That is the worst possible hire we could make.

Orgeron no doubt.

Brick does have great appeal to many recruits, he's "down to earth" in many ways. Activity level is one reason he's not as good. And he just doesn't seem to have the oooompf to close the deal many times.

Like someone else said on another thread, buy Coach O a lifetime supply of Red Bull and turn him loose and we'll have a top-3 class in no time. He's that good.

It would be damn near impossible for anyone to steal a LA recruit that LSU wanted

Haley is above average, but O is the standard by which recruiters are measured.

there is no doubt there will be an oh shite moment if BeBe is on the recruiting trail representing LSU...Burns and Saban don't want to have to battle O...look at the players he pulled in a short time to USC and Tennessee

He fits into the hole left by Chavis, he has recruiting experience in Bama. good relationship with Miles.

But he has a big contract for an assistant, 700,000 a year. IDK about the buyout. Because of this it is unlikely that LSU would be willing to go after him because of the high price tag on him. You can also add on that he Loves it at Bama, and Saban likes him as a coach and doesn't want to lose him who is responsible for orchestrating the 2013 class.

Steele was considered but It is a very low chance he comes IMO.

update - Les met with Steele for 2 hours today. He is leaning toward Pendergast. Venables a "distant 3rd". Met with 2 others but I don't know their names.

At this point I am assuming (very big assumption on my part) that based on what I've heard this is a two horse race between Steele & Pendergast.

Leaning? That scares the frick outta me. I don't like that Steele is even in the picture.
