Going into the 2020 season, our QB room was considered one of the best in the nation. 2 years later, 2 former starters have become division rivals. Many who were unsatisfied with Max Johnson’s 2800 yds & 27 TD sophomore performance will feel guilty soon. With experience and the talent around him at A&M, Max could very well outplay our “veteran fisherman” at Kyle Field. While Auburn seems to be a shite show, TJ may also emerge and challenge us. The same guy who couldn’t stay healthy after an embarrassing 1-2 start with losses to Mizzou and Moo State, will somehow rejuvenate the program? Hard to feel good about this QB room right now with Howard missing time in spring as well.

If Max wins the QB competition at A&M they'll be lucky to win 8 games next year too!

I don't think Max is even going to start at A&M.

And if Finley is starting at Auburn, it means they are going 5-7 at best.

Johnson’s not winning that starting job. He may be the only starting college QB ever to transfer to become a backup.

aTm getting Max Johnson was all about getting his brother, the 5 star TE. Max better get use to riding the wood. There are dozens of schools he could've gone to and been THE man. What a bad decision!

I’m not sure why everyone assumes Haynes King is some world beater. I was never impressed with him when we wanted him. Max is not elite by any means, but he very well could win that job.

You’re a dumb-arse. Both qbs are going to ride the benches of the teams they are now with. If they were good, they would have stayed and proved it. They are not good…

None of these QBs have proved anything, even ours. It’s a coin flip for each one.

Max Johnson was a starting QB who chose to transfer to a division opponent before the season was even over. Not sure why you’re sucking him off, as if he deserves anything more than a “tiger bait” from LSU fans at this point.

King threw 3 picks against Kent State, Max threw six in 12 games.

Max may grow and have a great season with Jimbo but there's a reason everyone wanted him benched vs Bama and why he got benched vs Arkansas.

Max's numbers look great until you analyze them

Against bad teams he lit them up - McNese, CMU, Mississippi State and ULM

83/122 - 68% - 14 TDs - 2 INTs - 1,133
Yards (283 ypg)

He has 2 good games vs ok teams:

vs 8-4 UCLA and 8-5 A&M

48/84 (57%) 6 TDs - 1 INT - 637 yards (318.5 ypg)

Then there was the 6 game stretch between Auburn, Kentucky, Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama and Arkansas.

94/167 (56%) - 7 TDs - 3 INTs - 1046 yds (174 ypg)

If you take out when he got benched vs Arkansas he's
91/161 (56.5%) - 7 TDs - 3 INTs - 1025 yds (205 ypg)

Biggest disappointment with him by far was the lack of his running and athletic ability this year and how the regressed on pocket work.

Dude got worse as the season went along. Then when his teammates needed him most he quit and went to a team we annually beat,

Say what you want - that boy is soft. frick him
