LSU QBs: From Starters to Division Rivals in 2022
Posted by GumboBell on 2/15/22 at 9:28 pm
Going into the 2020 season, our QB room was considered one of the best in the nation. 2 years later, 2 former starters have become division rivals. Many who were unsatisfied with Max Johnson’s 2800 yds & 27 TD sophomore performance will feel guilty soon. With experience and the talent around him at A&M, Max could very well outplay our “veteran fisherman” at Kyle Field. While Auburn seems to be a shite show, TJ may also emerge and challenge us. The same guy who couldn’t stay healthy after an embarrassing 1-2 start with losses to Mizzou and Moo State, will somehow rejuvenate the program? Hard to feel good about this QB room right now with Howard missing time in spring as well.

In no way does he fit CBK’s “alignment.”

When does this go into effect? I'm curious to know more about how NIL compensation will affect LSU. How will LSU's brand compare to other elite and upcoming programs?

We didn't have an issue scoring points against South Carolina either. Was this because we were at home? My point centers on the fact that our coordinators poorly prepared this offense going into the Auburn game. Very few teams in the modern era of CFB win games with 11 points.

We were losing games before this
Needed Quarterback Development and Leadership

I understand, our O-Line is struggling and this is not what we need with an inexperienced QB running the offense. Not having Joe Brady and Ja'Marr hurts too, but shite...we still have the talent on this roster to score a lot of points. Patiently waiting to see if Ensminger and Linehan can develop these young QBs. The Tigers look scared out there, with no swagger on both sides of the ball. Yeah, the stadiums aren't full this and that, imagine if Auburn 40 bombed us in front of 90K! Someone needs to step up and lead the damn team.
re: Bech, Ryan very impressive interviews

Strongly agree. Talent is a great thing to have on a football team, but if you don't have guys that can lead the pack... its simply a wash. Think both of these dudes will contribute as early leaders in the locker room, weight room, film room, and on the field.
re: Maybe I'm old school. The QB situation is pretty simple to me....

Something tells me that if TJ continues to play and has success, Nuss is going to feel a little shaky... I don't know much about Max J, but do we NEED him to win a championship at LSU?

Second QB in the 2021 Class?
Posted by GumboBell on 10/27/20 at 9:58 pm
I'm curious to know if anyone has been updated on whether or not we are taking another gun slinger in this class. We already have a ton of depth and a pair of commitments that are widely respected. Is there even room left for a second QB? If so, Coach O should jump on Brentwood QB Cole Lourd before he goes the PWO route elsewhere. Although he is not nationally recognized like Howard and Nuss, he's a very polished quarterback who is still growing and getting stronger. Very fluid footwork that enables him to be efficient on the run and in extending the play when necessary. I've watched him over the last year and a half, and his arm has progressively gotten stronger (capable of 60 yard throws). His dad is an LSU alum who is every bit of a Tiger as they come. He also recently purchased Les Miles' house and would love for Cole to land in Louisiana. Without having a senior season to improve his stock, Cole told me that he's leaning towards a PWO at Texas or Wake Forrest. If Coach O and Co feel the need to secure another very solid QB in this class, I believe Cole Lourd would be a perfect fit.

Miles and Coach O have both done an admirable job on the recruiting trail in my opinion. What Coach O has done that Miles never could, was recruit elite quarterbacks to lead the program. You can only do so much as a coach to make an in state kid want to represent his roots. People forget how many in state kids got drafted from last years squad. Not only did Ed O's group boast the most draft picks (14) by a single team in college football history, 9 of them were born in the state of Louisiana.
People finally woke up. Something that many people should know about Bech, kid is a leader and someone you want and need in a locker room. All this talk about being too slow is for the birds. Let's see what happens when Howard throws Bech a bubble and Jack truck sticks these slender and timid DBs on third and short. Kid is so versatile and his skill set will make it easy for coaches to find ways for him to be productive at LSU. While the receivers committed in this class might be slightly faster than Bech, he is leaps and bounds ahead of them physically and mentally. Watch the tenacity and grit that Bech plays with in the run game and try to tell me he doesn't bring the juice. Anyone who truly knows the game of football would be stupid to not get excited about what this "underdog" brings to Tiger Stadium.
What makes you say this, I am not questioning your point but am curious to hear why you believe this.
Tom Herman will make his case this weekend as Bech plans to visit Austin. I feel like Texas is the only potential threat to Bech signing with LSU.
