LSU played Weigman so good, that the plan backfired on us

And they had to put in Reed. In hindsight I wish Weigman would have a td or two. frick A&M!

Gregg Penn told you they didn’t prepare for Reed.
How that even happens is mind numbing.

Meh, Weigman helped lsu out a ton by being super inaccurate.

because he’s taken a whopping 1 snap in the last month

This is coaching malpractice, and BK seems to be guilty of that a lot recently.

Remember when we played Oregon with a similar quarterback and kicked their arse, then the next season had an opponent put in a Reed-like quarterback in the second half that kicked our butt for a couple of series, and our d coordinator just told the defense "forget everything, go to the Oregon plan" and it was a shutdown for the rest of the game?
Chris Farley that was awesome gif

I said this last night to my friend. If he had stayed in we were winning.

They have better coaching. Period

He’s played in 4 games. It’s not like there is no tape on the guy. They knew the kind of QB he is. Coaches failed in the second half.

It was akin to the dems benching Biden

Because Weigman has played every SEC snap when he’s been healthy. News flash- no one prepares for a backup QB when a team isn’t actually rotating them on a regular basis like OU. You idiots are really reaching here.

Then how did he school LSU’s defense so flawlessly with one snap under his belt?

Game should hasve been out of reach in the 1st half

Seems like we could've done this last night after playing Arkansas last week. It was 100% obvious that we had done zero scouting on the backup

Football 101. Other than Perkins, we don’t have any LB who could hope to stay with Reed as a spy. That makes him a big matchup problem especially paired with a very good RB. The normal go-to adjustment with a true spread option QB is to play zone and spy him with an LB. That’s an easy adjustment if you have the guy to do it. We don’t today. But most of the mobile QBs we face aren’t as fast from a flat-footed start at Reed is. Milroe is fast in the open field once they get going, but Reed gets to top speed like a RB. We had to abandon our strength- attacking and pressure up front, to try and contain him.
We should have adjusted more sooner, but the offense didn’t exactly give the staff a lot of time to do that with the turnovers and short fields. We actually did a little better job holding the edge and keeping numbers around him on their last FG drive.

i didn’t say the kid wasn’t good.
I said you don’t typically spend a lot of time preparing for a guy that doesn’t get into games until garbage time (barring injury).
how much time do you think any opposing coaches have spent preparing for Rickie Collins?

Maybe not with a lot of reps at practice, but the coaches must have a backup gameplan for the backup QB playing - if nothing else because Weigman could've gotten injured.
Baker gets paid a massive salary - it's his job to have his defense ready for both A&M QBs.

Atkins and singleton prob have the speed but obviously throwing freshmen in that spot is a tough ask

@ misey94
Nailed it.
D was slow to adjust, but Nuss repeatedly put us in a bad spot in the 3rd quarter. Ball game.
