Better Red Zone performance.
Fewer penalties.
A little more passing would make people fell a little better.

Red Zone efficiency

Kickoff coverage

Fewer penalties

Improvement in these three areas will demonstrate growth.

1. I want to see Etling go over the middle of the field with success
2. I want to see Guice get some big running lanes (this is OL based)
3. Redzone scoring PASSING THE BALL, Etling actually getting multiple passing TDs. We have these big arse, super athletic WRs and TEs, yet Redzone passing TDs are so foreign to us.

I hate how we don't do anything to prepare for SEC play offensively, and hope it happens this year. We wait to utilize our passing diversity, we wait to utilize our rushing diversity, then we just hope it all works out. We don't need to open up the whole playbook vs Chat, but run up middle, quick sideline pass, jet sweep, PA deep pass, should not be our entire gameplan.

I also want to see Brennan throwing even during the start of the 4th. Let him get some reps in and not just hand off all game. Clemson had 2 backups attempt 6 passes each, and Oklahoma's backups threw 16 times total as they had the entire second half. But several teams playing cupcakes threw the ball at least 29 times as a team.

Exactly! LSU fans all the time are just happy with wins vs these cupcake teams, but I hate that we don't throw much against them. There were a ton of high profile teams throwing a lot vs their scrub opponents last weekend. I don't want us to wait til we need it and see what happens. Let's work out the kinks right now.

YES! Like ATM! They are the best about running a fast pace offense and quickly getting their defense back on the field.

TAMU was up 44-10 in the 3rd quarter with that offense. Their ability to be shitty after that astounds me.

I want LSU to be able to gear down and gear up when they feel like it. You guys are too fond of the old arse school of run slow, bleed clock the entire game.

the coaches at lsu should never concern themselves with making the fans happy. they need to be concerned with winning games and staying out of ncaa trouble. period

I get what youre saying but being able to do pass againsg Chattanooga doesnt prepare us for passing against great sec defenses. while practice isnt a game, Etling sees far smaller windows going against our 2nd team defense than he will see this weekend.

the only thing passing this weekend can prove will be if we can't pass against Chattanooga,it will be doom and gloom on here all year.

but yeah it would be nice to see the 50/50 split

What 3 things must LSU show this weekend to demonstrate the offense is on track (as a program) to perform at a high level long term? Yes, lesser opponent - focus on what 3 fundamentals?
points passing penalties and red zone efficiency

In games like this the coaches should indeed want to put on a show while winning the game. Keeping everyone healthy, building confidence, getting quality reps, ect. LSU can walk and chew gum at the same time. We have the horses in the stable, it's time to showcase that.

I agree that in big conference games you just win the ball game but in these types of games and if you can, have fun out there, while letting the fans see a show, that's what they come for and that's what they want to see. You can do both while implementing a strong gameplan. Especially against teams like this.

Canada can just run the offense the way he would against Miss State and we will destroy this team. You don't have to show all your cards either. No Matter what you show teams, they have no clue how you would actually attack them. You can show one formation they have been practices to defend, run some kind of fake out of that formation and have someone else attacking their defense to fool them.

It works both ways, they may have the film but you can break those tendencies to catch them off guard so I never understood the notion of "let's not show them our playbook" frick that, go out there and run your offense to beat the defense and look good doing so. LSU has that ability against most teams so let's bring that out Saturday. Let's just go kick some arse LSU, coach O and Canada. Put on a show while not showing much. LSU can absolutely do both.

This game means nothing really but from week 1 I think everyone wants to see:

- A lot less penalties
- Converting red zone opportunities into touchdowns
- Some more passing, why not

the show is meaningless to coaches especially against weak teams.
this time next year no one will remember the pass run ratio of the 2017 lsu vs Chattanooga game.

sure coaches would rather look good and win that look bad and win but it's for the fans. even if the stands were empty the coaches would want to look good. I'm just saying at the end of the day, the win remains the most important thing to a coach. if lsu wins every game by 1 point( even the cupcakes) we make the playoffs.

its absolutely false that coach should worry about fan perception.

wins and losses get coaches fired, not whether or not they won passing or throwing the ball.

if coaches start to worry about what fans think, soon those coaches will be in the stands with them

We had some penalties. Quit acting like we were bumbling around out there. This offense is stellar right now, and will get much better.
This week is to smooth some things out, and even introduce more of the offense, and personelle. Like Guice said preseason. This offense is going to roll over people. AND with one of the best LSU defenses ever on the other side of the ball, LSU will indeed make a serious playoff run.
Special teams needs work. Everywhere. IMO

Well I never said that so you're preaching to the choir here. A good game plan will get you a win though. That's my point. You can't come out scared of anything, that's what sent our previous coach to the stands watching as a fan. Come out with a good game plan, execute that and build it into the next game. You can do this and put on a show for the fans. Of course that isn't the main priority and it's the last thing they plan for but it's great to do, and they do want to do it. Perfect scenario is to win the game decisively, without injury, while getting good game reps for everyone. If you do all that it will likely be in dominating fashion.
