why?

as long as you're not playing dirty on the field, it should all be fair game

This is one of the utterly dumbest statements ever made. Sportsmanship on the field is a reflection of a civil society. When someone starts making comments about "do whatever you want as long as it's legal" or "if it feels good do it", then you're eventually going to have a breakdown, whether its on the team or in the larger society. That attitude and those comments give cover to people who have less-than-good motives and those bad actors eventually ruin it for everyone. Miami's program imploded because a critical mass of perps/players were conducting criminal and anti-team behavior. You can start out winning as thugs, but you'll go down losing.

pussification of america

Was crying after the Fiesta bowl loss being manly? Did I miss something. You confuse the lose of Stoic ideals as the "pussification of America". We're not a manly society because we don't uphold behavior that creates men. Instead, we get jacklegs who love to watch a bunch of overgrown brats who can't control their childlike emotions.

Dude i'm talkin about SPORTS. Get that shite outta here. And if you don't think LSU and other schools don't have THUGS on their team then you living in a fairy tale land. I came from the same areas a lot of players in college football players are from. I hope you don't think all those young men on the LSU football team are good boys and don't pack heat, sell a lil somethin on the side, smoke a lil somethin, get in fights, etc. I'm from down there, almost every brotha i KNOW pack heat no matter if they in college or not!

Nothing like Miami.
Did you act that way when you played? Did your coach tolerate such behavior? Do you want your kids to act like Miami players?

that taunting it awesome

shite-talking at the coin flip is awesome

big hits are awesome

you want to morally and physically destroy your opposition. that creates intimidation

LSU hasn't been intimidating since we lost our 1 shite-talker (laron)

This is the best example of the pussification of America that I have read on this board. The inability to control one's emotions or the vicarious enjoyment of the inability to control ones' emotions is the definition of pussification. Don't confuse physical strength with maturity or manliness. The behaviors you cite are pathetic and childlike.

laron, marquise hill, spears, lavalais, and JV disagree with this

These people are too young to remember. Simple fact, but true. Their idea of society comes from Tupac, L'il Wayne or Eminim, not reality.

Maybe you have trouble reading? I said it is a reflection of a civil society. Look, we could go back to the law of the jungle, but then we would'nt have football games, we'd just have 24/7 UFC.

OK, whatever. Somebody already posted a reply to you on the More Sports board that adequately refuted this.

no they didn't

just because EVERY player on their great teams wasn't from the miami area doesn't mean that they didn't rely too much on talent outside of their area. shannon's first goal was to close the gates around miami, and it's working

miami is not going to produce a lot of great QBs. it's the same as LA

but bad QB recruiting killed them. absolutely killed them. wright was a colossal bust

Are you saying it is impossible to have a civil society that includes boxing or football, to name a few sports? Are you really serious?

the sports themselves in no way reflect society

the 2 ideals are completely different and should remain separate
