Oregons decathlete just finished 8th. That's a big net for LSU's men.

Yeah was keeping an eye on that. Good that he finished out of the money. That combined with Pedigo’s first in javelin makes up a lot of ground on that 4x400 disaster.

If we didn’t run our top squad for mens 4x400, couldn’t that to some degree indicate that we didn’t feel the need to run our top squad due to already having the team title locked up?

Seems like the men are in a good spot. They blew the 4x400 relay, but made up for it with an unexpected win in javelin.

I can almost promise that’s what happened. If there was any doubt there’s no way shaver plays games with it.

If LSU had qualified you would’ve seen the full A team in the finals since it’s the end of the meet

Women don't qualify in the 4x400m. Like the men, the lineup had at least 1 alternate running in someone's place. Just what is going on with these 4x4s?

This takes the women out of the running for first.

Another disappointment for the women’s team.

Not really. They were probably out of the running anyways. But their 4x4 isn't any good.

As long as Noah Williams isn’t injured I’m cool with the 4x400 move. It’s time we’ve gotten back over the hump after being so close over the years. Nathaniel Mitchell Blake’s last season was crushing with his injuries at the ncaa’s. We’d have won if all that season too

The women are damn good but they just don’t have the gap in times some of our men do. I am hoping for top 5 but I’m not banking on a particular finish with them

He finished his final year at LSU in 2017. And no, we were not favored to win any of his years. We were perhaps favored last year before Covid cancelled season.

It just seems like there is always an injury, DQ, DNF, FS, underperformance or some other crazy thing that happens to this team at nationals. It's like LSU can produce national champions every year, but it comes at the cost of the team.

The women have run 3:28 this year. How is that not any good?

It's the 11th best mark in the NCAA this year. It could have scored a point or 2, but it is not one of the events they were expecting big points in.
