I watched a breakdown on our offense that showed how the bunch tight sets are what makes our offense a bit more complex then other spread offenses. There were plenty of games where the tight split bunch formations worked better then the spread them way out formations.

Don't you think they figured out what was working and then we poured it on. Doesn't mean that the same formations work best in every game or that the bunch won't work next week

The team mastered the spread and RPO in less than half a season. Why not try other sets?
Why not the single wing? Or the T-formation? [sarcasm... note for the ironically challenged - like First Cut]

LSU had the highest scoring offense in the nation all season - Until Oklahoma took the spot on Saturday.

But why show your hand? If he doesn’t see it, then he’s not prepared for it!

Sprinkled in. Fine. Whatever. But the dominant set? While drives are dying in the Red Zone? Nah

Bama, Oklahoma, Clemson will feast on that 1970's shite! TITTB

Our best offense ever has one sluggish game sandwiched in between to top 10 games and you are questioning the coaching now? I think they know what they are doing. Just because it doesn't make sense to you or other posters doesn't mean they weren't preparing for future games...we won by 23 relax

And sluggish being 36 points on the road in one of the toughest places to play in the SEC.

IMO, someone is trying to put their handprint on Brady's offense.

Burrow said, "If we play like this against Auburn, we will lose."

I agree 100%

And again. NEVER the majority of the plays in a half. Not even close, Slick

Do you know what a gameplan is?
Do you realize that some weeks certain formations and plays are more favorable than others?

What are you talking about, Joe doesn't like the bunch? There still pass plays, of course he like them. I'm not sure some understand what the bunch is..

We actually throw more out of bunch then we throw out of the spread.

When we say bunch, we're just talking about how tight the receivers splits are and the number of receivers on one side of the field. Splits meaning how far apart and how far away from the end of the last lineman

No.

Sluggish being 3 FGs with multiple opportunities to score on the first 3 drives. Then a busted coverage TD.

Once the Spread/RPO was re-instated, LSU scored almost at will.

LSU is scoring at will against anyone and everyone. The coaching staff has developed a working game plan (on offense, at least) for every team we've played so far. And defense is getting there too now that they're becoming more comfortable in zone. This team is getting nasty.

It "worked" in this game because the defense was dominant. But the offense was certainly less efficient than it has been.
It was such a drastic difference, with all the tight formations, that I choose to believe the staff was just experimenting and also giving upcoming opponents something to think about.

Its a pleasure to believe that the LSU coaching staff has been playing 3D chess all year.

Adding additional game film for Bama, AU, and A&M. We knew we’d beat State.

THAT shite hasn't been "favorable" since the 1970s.

The Spread/RPO offense needs to be near-perfect to beat the big-boys - the playoff teams. LSU needs the reps to prepare for Auburn, Bama, Oklahoma, Clemson, etc.

Not a time to screw around with experiments,

"They can't F'n stop it" < THAT needs to be polished

What's that gaggle of receivers crowded off the offensive tackle? It's a bunch formation, and it's rapidly becoming one of the most important offensive concepts in the NFL. Danny Kelly heads to the film room for a closer look.
