Offense yds/game - 524.8 (1st)
Defense yds/game - 250.7 (1st)

The last time this happened was Week 11 in 2007.

Just can't finish drives and turning the ball over. Maddening.

Maybe consider looking at what other teams are actually allowing per game. For instance Bama gave up 455 yards to Ga. Ole Miss gave up 343 to lowly Vandy. Fla gave up 393 to Mizz. Some pretty talented offenses in the SEC.

too bad yards/game avg doesn't win the game. points win the game.

Both those stats accompanied with 2 losses in the conference can only mean bad coaching at critical moments, right?

It's so blatantly obvious that this team has all the pieces to be good, idk where we're falling short.

With basically the same type performances and yards allowed- we’re 2 two-point conversions away from being undefeated and most of this discussion would be absent. That’s the margin of error between success and failure in the SEC.

Yep. And our defense gave up 20 points in regulation, while our offense scored 27 and turned it over twice.

Again, yards per play is a way superior stat. Yards per game doesnt factor in pace

Lsu’s offense is tied for 7th in the sec in yards per play. Middle of the pack

Lsu’s defense is tied for 1st in yards per play. But we know lsu’s defense is a bully when it has the opportunity against below average offenses

No shite. OP shared the observation to demonstrate how close this team is to being dominant.

They need to limit the brain farts.

Everything in modern college football advantages the offense. The clock rules. The way games are officiated. This is why there are so few truly elite defenses in college football.

It’s a factor, but that’s also an over-simplification. The team is also playing much poorer overall on the road, especially on offense, where both of our losses have come. More penalties. More busts. Turnovers. The missed adjustment on the last play with coach coms already off. Leavitt missing an open throw and then firing into a helmet of a lineman to end the OM game. The focus issues on the road have really hurt us considering how close both losses were.

The staff definitely deserves blame for this, but so do the players when they are paid as much as they are today.

Baker will never get fired with the number one defense in the conference. People need to stop yakking about that, it’s a waste of oxygen and it’s not going to happen.

Process-oriented standpoint: We are doing a very very good job of putting ourselves in position to win games.

Result-oriented: We're 4-2.

The process is missing some key pieces. Explosive plays and turnovers are what has stopped LSU from being 6-0 and a top 3 team in the country. Down-to-down, we were significantly better than Kentucky, but for maybe 4 plays of the 140 in the game, we gave up a huge run, a long punt return, and surrendered the ball twice. That's a recipe for having to play a lot of catchup even as the better team.
