2023 vs LSU -> Ole Mrs TD Drives:

1st Half

3rd & 5 at LSU 41
(13:04 - 1st) Jaxson Dart run for 10 yds to the LSU 31 for a 1ST down

3rd & 4 at MISS 31
(0:22 - 1st) Jaxson Dart run for 6 yds to the MISS 37 for a 1ST down

2nd Half

1st & 19 at LSU 49
(0:01 - 3rd) Jaxson Dart run for 27 yds to the LSU 22 for a 1ST down

3 drives that LSU's defense could've had stops. Dart moves the chains, JD5 stays on the sidelines, results in 21 points for Ole Mrs.

I did not watch the Ole Miss/Kentucky game, but we should probably look to see what Kentucky did to stop Ole Miss

Ole Mrs Drives where LSU got the stop:

3rd & 5 at MISS 17
(7:50 - 1st) Jaxson Dart pass incomplete

3rd & 12 at LSU 17
(2:11 - 2nd) Jaxson Dart pass complete to Zakhari Franklin for 7 yds to the LSU 10

3rd & 10 at MISS 25
(0:42 - 2nd) Jaxson Dart run for a loss of 3 yards to the MISS 22

Force Dart to stay in the pocket. Play gap sound. Don't give up the easy 1st downs letting Dart scramble.

UK DL played contain for much of the game and did not allow Dart to scramble out of the pocket.

2024 UK at OM, Dart Rushing:
13 for 22yds, 1.7/rush, 0 TDs

2023 LSU at OM, Dart Rushing:
7 for 50yds, 7.1/rush, 1TD

LSU lost by 6.

South Carolina too. Alot of what Ole Miss scored was aided by South Carolina. Ole Miss didn't beat SC, SC beat themselves.

I don't believe Dart is the brightest star in the sky, so I'd try to confuse him with different coverages. Shut down his running and dial up blitzes he hasn't seen.

Stop the run period, not just Dart, but Parrish also.

SC has been pure a@@ since LSU roughed up their starting QB and leading RB

Controlling time of possession. It kept our offense out of rhythm. Same exact thing Arkansas did to Tennessee

I believe what Kentucky did and what Vandy did this weekend to Milroe were essentially the same. Contain him in the pocket, disciplined edge-rushing (not going too far upfield or putting yourself in a position to be pushed/guided passed the the QB). Strategic safety/linebacker blitzing often through inside gaps. At least that is what I recall, though you should never take my word for anything from memory

We were able to control time of possession in the second half of an earlier game this season, with two 90+ drives for TDs and another 80+ yard drive which led to a FG. Those three possessions alone chewed up over 20 minutes of clock, keeping the other team sidelined at pointless the 2nd half.

Don't know if we can do this on Ole Miss's pretty stout defense, but that's our only key to victory

Seal those freaking edges and dice the runners to the inside! We'll win!

Ole miss will destroy us. Just hope our offense can keep up but we don't have the firepower like last year!

Stopping his running is definitely one of the biggest keys to the game but the other is limiting the big pass plays. Force them to methodically drive down the field and make tight throws. NO big plays in the passing game.

Sound gap responsibility is the reason Ky beat OM. That is something we have gotten better at since last year. They were horrible. That and pressure QB on their Oline which is something I think we will be doing which we also didn't do well last year. Completely different defense for us. Put pressure on dart and don't give them time to go deep at our biggest weakness. safeties.

Best I can do right now: a chance for this LSU defense to prove itself...
