ONLY IF THIS TEAM CAN FIND THE WILL POWER TO BEAT A BAMA TEAM bent on proving that it was the best team in the 1st game this year .LSU better not let Bama get 10 or 14 points ahead , There will be no come back !! Bama is just as good as this Tiger team except in the kicking game . Which I bet has been worked on worked on worked on and reworked on !! Knowing Saban his 1st 15 points maybe from the FG kicker just to prove Bama can kick a few FG's This is one game we do not need the other team to jump out of the gate on us !
Oh yes , just one season as #1 will not make this the greatest team to play college football . There have been teams in the past Oka that have been #1 for multi years in a row ,maybe after LSU wins the NCC 3 or 4 years in a row then we can start to say ,
"We got the best team ever "

I don't think it's even close in comparison. You can only go back a certain number of years to get a 14 game schedule to begin with - that eliminates a lot of years and great teams.
LSU's schedule has been brutal and the margin of victory significant against ranked teams - w exception of Ala.
Bottom line is LSU must beat Alabama in the BCS championship and if they win by double digits then yes LSU football team in 2011 will be the BEST college football team EVER. Even a 1 point victory will be enough to put them up with the very best of all-time. Geaux Tigers!

In recent years the only team that catches my eye for comparison is USC 04. I know they cheated. But just remember how they dominated teams.

Guess I should have searched then. But the search sucks and it would have pulled up a shite ton of irrelevant posts. This place just sucks though. Only had a couple of good responses in 4 pages. I'm done with the rant for now

Team is special but need to let the last game play out. Bama pretty good as well. Best ever probably not but in the conversation for the top five .

*IF* they beat Bama again...then we can talk. We'll see how the offense does; not a single first down in the first half against Georgia. 2 field goals against Bama in regulation.
I suspect that that this whole argument depends on one single thing. And that is Jordan Jefferson's passing efficiency in the Championship game. If the throws for 150-200, opening up the run...we'll win. If he blows the easy throws, allowing their LB's to play the run...like the first game, only we might not be so lucky to see them freak in the OT. And all the 'greatest team ever' talk will be in reference to Bama.
